Had this boss in a small IT company too. He was one of a trio which owned the company. They made a series of mistakes but this one specifically was a major asshole who put terror on their employees. Always blaming others for his own fuck ups, and firing people one after another or not giving credit for their results. They lost the company for a major one in the sector, that was actually in a type of "loan shark" contract with them. I can say, when I found out about it I was happy because justice had been served.

Yeah, his character was one crazy jerkass. And Bobby's ploy to make the other workers there hate Kurt. I can't believe though that the other office workers believed Bobby when he told everyone it was Kurt's idea to fire Hank. Bobby feeling the need to immediately come out there and tell everyone it was Kurt's idea just makes it look like he's covering up that it was his own idea. Also, everyone there knew that Bobby was above Kurt in the ranks, that he was Kurt's boss. They couldn't figure out that either the upper manager hires and fires, or the middle manager does it but only after discussing it with his manager and getting his approval? A junior manager normally doesn't fire people unless the head guy tells him to. The other office workers should've known that.

Most of the lines in comedy movies are totally unscripted or ad libbed. You can write up disposition or mood into a script, but you can't write the words, phrasing, and delivery of a really good comedic actor.
