I've been feeling like I'm in a "life" slump for a while now 😅 Changes are needed, and not just in my reading. I love Ronald Malfi's books...need to catch up on so many! ❤

I have a number of Bentley Little books on my tbr. Excellent advice, in particular the idea of reading perhaps shorter thrillers that are page turners. Thank you for the recommendations. I would recommend Coraline by Neil Gaiman if you are in a more YA frame of mind. I would also recommend Heartsick for a darker thriller/horror and most definitely a page turner.

I also loved Near the Bone. I own Bone White but haven't read it yet. I also own almost all of Hahn's books, but again, haven't read any of them 😬 I have added Stranded to my tbr. If you want a fast paced thriller I would recommend No Exit and The Last Word by Taylor Adams.

A book that got me out of a slump was Here and Gone by Haylen Beck (aka Stuart Neville). Deals with abusive marriage, gaslighting, corrupt small town cops and the black market.

I can't agree more about Malfi! From what I read of his, I loves. I look forward to reading that new novella collection he just released (well, re-released)... It may sound cliché but Stephen King is good to bust reading slumps, especially his shorter works like Pet Semetary or Shining. Another good author to read when in a slump is Michael McDowell! Katie, Cold Moon over Babylon and Blackwater Saga are so fun to read and easy to get absorbed into the story and characters

I discovered Little when “the Store” was being sold at local Walmart. I was so surprised as he apparently went to Cal State Fullerton - and therefore lived around me. All the streets and locations described in “the university” are pretty true to form. The university is fashioned after Csuf. And the cover of The Academy (paperback) is a local high school (Fullerton high school). I cleared out my local used book store and Amazon and ThriftBooks trying to get his back catalog.Anyway, thanks for spotlighting his stuff. No one really talks about his stuff. :-)

I have Bone White and all, I think, of his other books. Completely agree about him being a slump buster. I save his books for the times I need a good book. Right now I’m reading nonfiction as my main course, but I may start Bone White as a dessert. I have most of the books you mentioned, but not the YA one. I will look up Bentley though…I don’t think I have any of his books.

Bone White is available to me as an Audible Plus book. It seems to me that I have looked at hundreds of books lately and none appeal. I have resorted to authors I had decided were not for me. The thrillers of Balducci (sp?) came as a pleasant surprise. The question of course is: with thousands of books published daily, how can there be a slump?

OMG yes!! I love Bentley Little...he does such a great job taking everyday locations and situations and making them more horrible than they already are.
