Horrothia FX Type ONE Analogue Ensemble. Sometimes subtle. Most times not so subtle. The Type ONE can immediately be heard in the opening on the cigar box guitar as it bounces between the left and right. This feature was recorded in a mixture of stereo and binaural audio to best capture those ornate and abundant textures that can be dialed in with just this single knob chorus. Because of this, headphones are STRONGLY advised to achieve the best audio experience and to capture a large essence of the Horrothia FX Type ONE. It was this show of beauty and simplicity from stereo outs and a single knob intertwined that sparked the inspiration to film this feature in a creek with water flowing around us.
The feature above was filmed on a secluded ranch in Tishomingo, OK.
Inspired by and loosely based on the Boss CE-1, Tom Oakes of Horrothia FX has seized those elements and created a voice all his own in a world of redundancies. The attention to detail and care in his craft are felt in every note that passes through the Type ONE. Speaking on the Type ONE Tom Oakes said, "It’s about the sound details and how it makes you feel." When used in stereo, the wash and waves of Type ONE cascading around you, easily overtake. Bringing you into a world drenched in ambiance and tranquillity while also leaving you with nothing short of imagination.
Rarely do I use the word perfect to describe something. But the Type ONE is just that, perfect.
With more than enough headroom, the Type ONE has been carefully adjusted and created to indulge any signal carried through it. Guitar, Synth, and Bass. All will find a home as Type ONE easily carries them all confidently yet gently into the next phrase.
Thank you to Tom of Horrothia FX for allowing and inspiring me to share this piece with you all.
