"Don't make them feel like they're home. Make them feel like they're with their mother." I love it.

Great quote for sure. He had a lot of good ones in there, but that is definitely a memorable one!

What an incredible story - so inspiring! Easy to look at the end result of the things Horst created and just assume it was 'always that level', but incredible to hear how intentional he was, and his approach to both customers and team members.

Horst Schulze is an absolute "powerhouse". Every speech he does is filled with inspiring, encouraging stories, relevant best practices, and things that you can begin implementing asap to become a more effective, more dynamic leader! I'm so fortunate to have worked directly with him. 😊

The Ritz Carlton needs you back. So much has changed since your departure and not for the best. I had such a sense of Pride while working there. Visiting a Ritz Carlton now is like visiting a Marriott or Hilton. It no longer has the Wow factor it used to have. Wish you could do something to bring it back to its original glory.I never get tired of watching this speech over and over again

Great interview Chris! So much wisdom there for any business but especially for every person. Define yourself not as what you do what what you are.

I interviewed with Schulze in late 70's or early 80's. So long ago. It was "memorable".

The first time I heard about Horst Schulze was when my professor for the Doctoral Class at the UBIS, mentioned that he had worked in the Ritz Carlton with Horst Schulze. Professor Sean Jasso taught "Trends in Leadership" and during several of his lectures, he mentioned leadership traits

Even after Mr. Schulze had already mentioned he didn't get his bottle of water for this event, nobody ever brought it to him. And his speech was on providing exceptional customer service. Probably no one got the memo?!?
