Subscribe 👉 9Soci.al/L72O50... | Sarah Abo had to wipe tears from her eyes this morning as she reported on the earthquake tragedy that has killed over 20,000 people and left countless others unaccounted for on the Turkey Syria border.
The rescue effort has now entered it's fifth day after the 7.8 magnitude quake devastated the two countries, followed by dozens of aftershocks.
But while survivors are still miraculously being rescued from the rubble of flattened buildings, aide from western countries has been delayed thanks to the ongoing civil war in the region.
"They feel like they're being ignored," Syrian-born Sarah told her co-host, Karl.
"You've got people there who are so desperate and it's as though for years they feel as though they haven't - you know, been given the attention that they deserve, and now we are seeing them so desperate."
Australia is among western countries who are now able to send emergency personnel to help with the rescue effort, but Sarah - who has has a detailed knowledge of the conflict in the region - couldn't hide her emotions over what the victims on the ground are going through.
