stuff that i was able to notice was wrong list 1. many of players sound like they haven’t replaced their reed in a while, hence the squeaking (clarinet and saxophone players need to replace their reed every time they play or else the old dried up reed will cause squeaking) 2. the class was probably never taught dynamics, so they just played at whatever volume they thought was correct (you need to know soft and loud dynamics so you aren’t just bursting out loud cacophony) 3. most kids do not have proper posture (slouching, not sitting up straight at the edge of their chair, crossed legged, laying at the back of the chair) when playing an instrument, you have to be sitting up straight at the edge of your chair, or else your sound comes out badly because your air can’t get through as smoothly) 4. it seems that some of the student’s music is on the floor, so they may be guessing 5. some of the flutes are holding their flute tilted with their head tilted as well (i know i used to do this, but it you can stop subconsciously doing it if you keep sitting up straight and making your arms straight too) holding your flute like this can make your muscles hurt and make your sound not as good 6. overall, it seems that the band wasn’t given enough time to prepare for this concert. i think that their director either didn’t help them individually enough and taught them fundamentals or they just didn’t have enough time
