It seems the Hot Hands do give you plenty of time to move something out of the oven, and even to grab a spoon that falls into boiling water. I don't like that they are so short because you could get boiling water down inside if you aren't careful.

Stick your old fashion pot holder in boiling water!!!!! I didn't see that test. Grabbing a hot tray or turkey in the oven with an old fashion holder, you have to make sure you grab it just right and hope it doesn't slip. With hot hands its a more natural grab and go. So for me, the product does what it intended to do!!!!

These are worth getting for one reason. Moving a whole roast from a pan on to a serving platter. Granted that might be a once or twice a year thing for most people but that alone makes them worth the investment. They worked like a charm getting my Easter ham from the crockpot onto the serving platter. The ham was so tender it was ready fall apart so forks would have been a no go.

It seems like you’re biased against the product. Yeah it might not beat a pot holder at staying cool for more than 20 seconds and it might not beat a spatula at flipping things, but a pot holder can’t flip things and a spatula can’t pull things out of the oven. Plus you can use them to wash dishes! So many things. It’s a multi tool and should be reviewed as such.

I don't have the hot hands but I do have mittens and pot holders. I prefer the mittens over pot holders because the mitten covers whole hand. Pot holders my hands still hurt from the heat. Not sure how I feel about silicone. Isn't it plastic? I don't want touch melted plastic.

At the end of the day they're silicone gloves. Silicone has a high melting point, but it doesn't have any kind of insulating qualities. A restaurant I worked at had these gloves that had a thick rubber outer coating and a fibrous heat insulating inner coating designed for use with hot oil, just get something like that instead of these, they'll be pricier but you get what you pay for.

My Pampered Chef silicone oven mitts ($50 for the pair a decade ago, but they worked like a champ all this time!) have finally developed cracks in one of the thumbs, so I was shopping on Amazon for replacements while Sunday dinner was cooking. The current version of Pampered Chef silicone oven mitts look a bit longer than my old ones, but are just as expensive and have even worse reviews than the Hot Hands on Amazon, so I browsed the 4 stars & up-reviewed oven mitts at Amazon (and watched EZVid Wiki's current "top 10" list of oven mitts), and am about to order the Ekogrips oven gloves -- all before seeing that you had that item listed as a best-selling alternative to the Hot Hands!
@kookoo8897

I find any of the silicone pot holders are too slippery to grip properly so I end up using my regular square like you have. What I'd like to know is, how they stand up to holding an oven hot food like chicken to tear apart or hard boiled egg to get the shell off or peel a piping hot potato and so on. Seeing your boiling water test fail would probably be the same fail for any extended time for hot food. Also, being that you are a man, your hands would be much larger than ladies hand (for the most part 😉) so dexterity would be lessened still. Thanks for your reviews!

Well in science heat transfers energy from hot to cold so the energy in the boiling water transfers into to the I would assume room temperature gloves and since you are physically touching the gloves and your hands are colder then the gloves that was submerged in the boiling water then the energy transfers from the glove to you through physical contact.

These are a major disappointment Every Thanksgiving and Christmas my family makes a gaint turkey or lamb in the oven and we have a massive steel pan that they cook in. So every year I am the one who brings out the food and bring it to the table. Usually just use oven mitts and a towel. Unfortunately my mom got these and thought I should just use them, as soon as I grab the pan my fingers were on fire so I had rush with my fingers burning, there were no burns thank good but I had to put my hand in ice after

In my experience, Hot Hands do a respectable job as a larger-than-average trivet. If I have a pot that I want to take off the burner or a pan to take out of the oven, I can put one of the Hot Hands on the countertop and place the pot/pan on top of it without worrying about burn marks. My experience wearing the Hot Hands has not been much different from yours.
