Love the doors, kitchen cupboards, shutters, fence, and tables in Tanya's blue. What is Tanya's IG account? It is unusually hot globally in many places. Car purchasing would be good. Full house tour to see all the updates would be good.

Great video. I would love to know how hot it gets in your house in the summer. Our house in England is like living in a conservatory! Hige windows and no shade anywhere on the high side of an exposed valley. Would love to be able to escape the heat when it's hot outside!

Yes, cause its got 1m thick stone walls its about 10c cooler inside so when its 40 out its about 30 in which means no need for aircon and just a good fan. Which saves a fair bit on electricity. In the winter its the other way round so again not so much on heating. The uninsulated roof is a bit cold in winter but means the house cools quickly in the summer nights as all the heat goes up and out of the roof. It has its pros and cons but is traditional for a reason i suppose. I think if we insulated the roof it would get really hot in the summer and we would need aircon so would spend the money in the summer that we would save on heating in the winter. Plus we would have to reroof the house which is a fair expense in the first place.... hmmmmm....

Thank you so much! Our house is probably about 10 degrees hotter in the summer 😱 and gets really cold in winter due to the wind across the valley!

Does it get over 35-40 degrees + very much?
@LivinginGreece
Жыл бұрын
Yes, its been 35 + for at least 8 weeks now and will be until september. But the real surprise is how cold it can be in the winter. It has snowed here every year we have been here (3 years) and that is normal apparently. Best time is october and early november. Olive season. Weather is cooler, sea is still warm. And if the olive harvest is good then everyone is happy and out having a good time. Forget the islands, they are for tourists and are expensive. Mainland is where its really at 😀

Hey Andy, thank you for the update. Have you considered building a plunge pool in your back area? And is it worth while having a small shaded vegetable patch? Stay safe and have a great day.

Maybe once the rest of the house is finished a pool might be an option. Veg needs so much watet in the summer but is really possible in the winter months if we chose the right crops. Its a marathon not a sprint so maybe next year might bring some home grown veg 🙂

HI Andy and Tanya, love your channel! hope it cools down soon!! 45!! yikes! Anyways, here goes, I'm Greek but grew up in London allo, allo, allo, and am now in America for 25 years, I'm a bit fed up with it here and would love to return to Greece doing lots of research, of course, but I'd love to hear your experience on to how hard it was to close on the house, find attorney, notary, etc and how hard it was to find decent and honest contractors and the like over there? How've you two found those experiences?? Could you do a video or share the link if you have one already please?...I saw your bloke Takis did a bang up job on your pavers btw, really nice! btw, I'm looking up north (near Xylocastro) and west (near Pyrgos) in the Peloponnese btw Thanks!! Hope to hear back soon!!

You are doing a fantastic job with the house, love that blue. That is some extremely hot weather you are having. Australia will most likely go back to the extremely hot weather and wild fires this year. We still think why Greece over Cambodia and the pros and cons of living in each.

Yes i suppose it is time for a now and then video. Hopefully next month when we have finished all the work started so far. We seem to have loads of things at 95% complete and just need to finish them all. We'll do a video then before we start the workshop conversion.
