Honestly? Missed opportunity not taking the M3CS out on the CSL tires. Would have been incredibly compelling to see how it compares to the CSL on matched tires, even if it wouldn't have counted towards its place on the leaderboard.

It sort of sounds like the issue wasn't just that they were out of spec for the car, but that the two axles wouldn't have the same tires. The fronts would be Cup 2 Rs, rears plain ole Cup 2s.

Really get a kick out of what a great performance car the S550 , and now S650 Mustang in the Dark Horse, in its highest and most capable offering, with undoubtedly, more monsters to come from FORD, have turned out to be. We all hear a ton of hate with the Mustang and all it does is produce. Time and time again. Looking at C&D’s all time list for Lightning Lap, FORD claims 4 of the top 6 spots under $75k with naturally aspirated Mustangs. Theee 5.0’s and the effervescent 5.2L Shelby. Including the top 2 spots. Quite frankly, cars in general are heavier today so I don’t knock it for that, just look at its performance. The Mustang truly is a world class sports car going back now to 2015 with the launch of the GT350. #GODBLESSAMERICA

The published Dark Horse curb weight equipped with a 10R80 is 3975 lbs compared to the manual Mach 1 curb weight of 3793 lbs.. On average an automatic weighs approximately 75 lbs more than a manual transmission yet i believe you mentioned the Dark Horse ran faster laps.. Currently, tuning for the S650 Gen 4 Coyote isn't available other than the Whipple tuning. From watching Dyno sessions. I've seen the automatic shifting well before the 7500 redline. My guess is Ford used a softer tune to meet the government's Café regulations regarding both carbon emissions and MPG. These early shifts also happen at the dragstrip. You mentioned the transmission was hot. That's somewhat confusing since the Dark Horse comes with a heavy duty transmission cooler for track use. I don't understand why you didn't use the Tremec 6 speed Dark Horse for your road course test. Any chance Ford would allow you to test the Dark Horse R on this same road course? With a lot less weight and I'm guessing more horsepower. It should be an interesting video.

C/D you need a new driver that can articulate how each car felt in the laps and how they compare to each other. Not just saying "yeah it is good", "yeah it is really enjoyable" and "yes/no" to questions. It generally feels like he is very stingy with comments (except for some non-car related/logistic stuff in the laps). Carlos was prompting him so hard to get some comments out.

What is ford even doing? 4000lb mustang. Imagine how good this car would be if they were trying to be a serious sports car company and delivered a 3500lb product

I noticed that as well....makes the price make a little more sense. I do like the old-school mentality of the Nismo. The aftermarket will be really good as well....I just wish it had heated seats for my lower back😅

Took some turns terrible in the M2 also only had 4 runs in it. And end of the day. M2 deserved and was capable of a much better run.

Correct. Everyone else seems to easily beat a Nismo Z either one....guy needed more seat time in it.

You all contradict yourself by upgrading the brz and then say that you didn’t mismatch tires on the BMW because it needs to match what comes from the factory and that “it really matters”. Next time just use the nicer tires mismatched and give us that lap time as well.

They made it clear that the brz is an exception, if you were paying attention. The BRZ is a long term tester that they want to simulate an ownership experience with. They already have good data for a stock BRZ.

Its not contradictory. The brz/86 is a known quantity. Nothing interesting to be gained from just running it stock again.

@@mitchellsteindler I’d agree with you if they didn’t say that testing it stock was really important for this test. The driver even admitted he thought he would have a chance to go harder so he wasn’t even trying is hardest on this lap. Point I’m trying to make is the data is useless in this comparison. “Here’s a track car we didn’t drive to the limit because we only had all weather tires and thought we had track tires for a hot lap. We were able to get track tires but they weren’t the exact compound that comes factory so we decided to show you the warm up lap”
