As A kid growing up I have so many memories of going to fairs and local carnivals. One of my fondest memories was having fresh baked soft pretzels. I have this super easy recipe for you to make them and paired it with a crazy yummy cheesy dipping sauce. I know you will love it!!
Ingredients: Pretzel
1 1/2 Cups warm water( 110-115 degrees)
1 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
1 Package Dry Yeast
1 Tbsp. Salt
4 1/2 Cups A.P. Flour
2/3 Cup Baking Soda
2 Egg Yolks Beaten
1 Oz. Melted Butter
Procedure:
1. Combine the water, sugar, and salt. Whisk thoroughly. Sprinkle the yeast on top and allow to sit for 10 minutes to activate the yeast.
2. Add the flour and butter and knead the dough for 10 minutes. If you have a mixer with a dough hook mix for 5 minutes.
3. Allow the dough to rest covered for 1 hour till it doubles in size.
4. Divide the dough into 6-8 equal portions and begin to roll each portion out so it reaches about 20 inches approximately.
5. Form a few pretzels and cut the remaining dough into bite sized pieces.
6. Bring about 1/2 Gallon of water with the baking soda to a boil and gently boil the pretzel/ pretzel bites for about 30 seconds. Remove and place on a lined piece of parchment paper.
7. Brush with the egg wash, sprinkle Kosher salt on top and bake ate 450 degrees for 12-15 minute until golden brown. Cool and serve with mustard or the following amazing cheese sauce.
Ingredients: Cheese Sauce
8 Oz. Beer
1 Bunch Chopped Scallions
1 Tbsp. Each Garlic and Onion Powder
2 Tbsp. Dijon Mustard
8 Oz. Cream Cheese @ Room Temperature
! !/2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Procedure:
1. Bring the beer to a boil and add the cream cheese. Whisk thoroughly till combined.
2. Add the remaining ingredients, reduce the heat, and whisk till combined. About 1 minute. Turn off the heat and reserve for an amazing pretzel experience!
