Thanks so much for watching and sharing your positive feedback! I wholeheartedly agree -- there's a common misconception that Hot Toys are made out of paper and will crumble if you pose them or breathe on them too hard, and I really enjoy showcasing that these incredible posable works of art are anything but fragile. Granted they do each have safety risks and areas of concern, but they're definitely more durable than people give credit so I'm really glad you share the same sentiment 😊

I just got this set for my birthday and it's my first Hot Toys figure. My first and really only complaint with it was the shoulder issue. I couldn't pose him shooting his rifle in a way that looked super realistic. Since it's my first Hot Toys figure, I may use something other than the actual fat suit to cover his legs and biceps in case I decide to go back to its original setup. But this is really cool and seems super doable.

This video was so helpful to me. The only Hot Toys I had before this was a blank body and ROTJ Boba Fett. I have never flexed boba because he was an absolute treasure for me. But Mando was bought specifically for posing and I was shocked how terrible the flexibility was considering all the joints underneath. Your video was perfect! I’m curious why hot toys doesn’t have more unique bodies to prevent the need of this padding foolishness. Crazier thought: WHAT IF THEY GLUED PADDING THR WAY YOU HAVE TO THE APPROPRIATE SECTIONS?!?! I may have used too much tape. I could not get the gauntlets back on and getting the shin armor was a challenge. I actually removed the gauntlet padding all together. The leg padding does a lot to make the clothing look more accurate. Thank you for taking the time to cut this. My only concern was having to pause and playback different sections. No fault to you really; you wouldn’t know which sections were a challenge.

Oh wow, thanks so much for taking the time to share your well thought-out positive specific feedback! 🙏🙇♂️ As mentioned in the video, I'm always super grateful to have a positive impact on anyone's collecting journey and reading your message here brings me so much joy 😊 In regards to Hot Toys not having more unique bodies, they are a business after all! Gotta remain as profitable as possible in order to fund future projects, so I'm guessing that the cheap padding is the most financially efficient way to balance their profits while still delivering these mostly screen-accurate figures on a mass production scale. And yeah for the tape, I only used enough to wrap around the limbs just once -- the gauntlets are a bit stiff but I prefer them not to move around 😁 I'm glad you tweaked it to your liking though! And lastly, indeed the editing was a bit fast 😅 I do try to keep the content informative but concise especially since the pause/rewind buttons are there as needed. Haha that’s not a bad thing at all! Some purist collectors might argue that you’ve “ruined a perfectly good figure” but personally I’ve always been of the mindset that we paid for them with our own hard-earned money so we have every right to do whatever we want with it. At the end of the day as long as you’re able to enjoy your figure (stock or modified) then that’s all that matters. I’m really glad you found this video helpful for your first modification - and now you can always go back in to add/remove as much padding as you like 🙌 Thanks so much for watching and for sharing your positive feedback! This is great information, I get really frustrated trying to pose my figures so they look their best. I didn’t know they has body suits on and I think it’s an easy way to save money by the manufacturer. I don’t think that savings gets passed down to the collector though, and I think every figure should have a unique sized body that emulates the character. I really feel like if the body was specifically designed proportionately they could create more points of articulation and use fabrics that are designed for movement. The whole reason I collect 1/6 scale figures is so that I can pose them any way I want to, if I just wanted a statue then I would have bought a statue. Now I’m looking at all my figures and realizing they probably all have body suits on them. The Starlord figure is really hard to get into a dynamic pose as his arms don’t come high enough and don’t bend at the elbow properly. I think when you are paying upwards to $500 for some of these figures they should definitely be able to be stripped down to the most articulated body as possible, the emphasis of a 1/6 scale figure should be its pose ability and there should not have to be so many worries about damaging the clothing. One thing I have found that I really hate is the lightsaber battery operated half arms on the Star Wars characters that have that feature. It was so difficult to attach their arms into their costumes and not enough instructions on how to properly do it, and the batteries don’t last nearly long enough for all the effort. Both my Luke and Vader were purchased last year and both have drained their batteries, I don’t know where to get the batteries from and it’s a shame because now I have to replace the whole arm in order to pose it differently. If the lightsaber doesn’t light up there’s no reason to have it. I think they really need to work on enhancing the electronics of these figures as well. My R2 and 3PO both still work after a year and I just got a new house with an office where I can display everything. And by the way how did you get your mando 2 months ago and I won’t get mine until the end of the year?

Personally I'm also not a fan of the battery-powered lightsaber arms for the exact reasons you mentioned... the batteries die quickly and switching out the arm is very troublesome which can sometimes damage the fabric on the sleeves. It's for these reasons that I got custom CCFL Lightsabers that are powered via wall outlet (plenty of videos on KZitem to research). In regards to these sometimes non-posable 1/6 figures, I share similar feelings in that I also would like them to be more articulated from factory. However I can also see it from the business perspective as to why they'd simply put in a fat-suit rather than creating a unique figure body per character -- they've gotta make profits in order to stay afloat so they can continue reinvesting their earnings into future projects... no profits = no more figures. Plus there are other figure brands in smaller scales that allow for better articulation like Mafex / Mezco / Revoltek. As much as you and I would prefer fully posable sixth scale figures, we gotta hand it to Hot Toys for mass-producing these highly-detailed & stunning screen-accurate recreations. And lastly, which Mando figure are you referring to when you ask how I got it 2 months ago? I got my OG Durasteel Mando from Sideshow which was released late 2020 to their US customers, and I got my Beskar Deluxe Mando from KGHobby which arrived earlier this month (I think Sideshow is still shipping Beskar Mando in various batches). Also your estimated delivery of later this year might depend on where you bought from / if you're on payment plan / when you preordered compared to others who might have preordered sooner. I hope that helps, and thanks for watching / commenting!

I did it with season 2 chrome mando and it's exactly the same step by step I was so iffy about doing it also this is only my second figure but then just said screw it and the end result is so much better btw I used hot glue to keep the pads in place instead of tape cuz I felt like I'd hear the crinkling of the tape as I posed him😂😂 so as someone who did it for the first time ever on only my second owned figure I would say take your time and try it out if you get to a point where you feel like you'll break something just put it back together no harm no foul but definitely watch this video if your going to do it

@PosingwithPeter
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching & commenting! I'm really glad ya enjoyed the video along with that last Iron Spider pose 😁 As for Black Panther, I've been very fortunate since I don't live in a humid/sticky climate. I've kept him in dynamic poses long-term (months) with the suit all wrinkled at the legs, but putting him back into a neutral pose for a week ended up resetting the fabric back to normal... could be a fluke due to the forgiving climate that I live in. I suppose try to maintain the humidity in your collection room and also try pulling the fabric apart at the bent joints to help reduce the amount of wrinkles that bunch up. Hope that helps!

Great video! I'm a little bit hesitant to destroy the fat man suit though. Just wondering, what is it that's hindering the articulation, is it the fat man suit itself or is it the size that pulls on the fabric during articulation? If it's the suit itself, I'm just wondering if anyone has tried replacing the body with a muscular body from World Box or any of the other 1/6 manufacturers that have more articulation and that are of a bigger size to eliminate some of the bagginess?
@PosingwithPeter
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching & commenting! Totally understandable not wanting to destroy the fat suit, especially if ya ever plan to resell the figure. Fortunately pieces of paper towel or tissue can work too. In terms of what's causing the restriction in articulation, for me it was the fat suit itself. Upon experimenting with my OG Mando last year, I tried cutting the fat suit at the joints while leaving it all attached to see if I could improve articulation while keeping his bulk but unfortunately the long sleeve was still feeling really tight due to the padding around his body (hence why I didn't bother to include it here). I have seen some collectors replace the whole body with Phicen M33 -- makes him very posable while looking very natural as well. The only downside is that figure body can cost around $80-100 USD which I wasn't willing to spend. More power to those who do though 🤑😁
@9833000

Couldn’t you cut the holes into the white suit around the joints and shoulder areas without cutting the entire suit up so you don’t have to use tape in the end?
@PosingwithPeter
3 жыл бұрын
One could absolutely do that, and that's the best part about modifying figures -- deciding where and how to cut the fat suit just comes down to personal preference ☺️ I tried something similar on my OG Mando when it first arrived late last year. For my first attempt, I had just made some incisions around the joints but kept the fat suit attached to the body. His articulation improved slightly but the amount of padding still kept his clothes a bit too tight for my liking so I went back in removed bits & pieces of the fat suit until I landed on what's shown here in this video. As I always say: do what works best for you 👍

Do you have the death maul figure from the phantom menace? He’s mostly very pose-able but like mando, he struggles to lift his arms and legs up. The fat suit on him is such a pain in the ass especially when his clothes are really baggy + loose anyway so the tight fat suit shouldn’t be needed.

New sub here, quick question: is there anyway to modify spider-man’s suits the same way you modified this mando figure?? I’m new to the Hot Toys game and recently-ish, and I have the HT’s AoU Hulkbuster and PS4’s Iron Spider figure. I know limited posing is kinda the cost of doing business for spider-man figures, but if there is a way to modify the spider-man figures to allow for more posing, I’d be down to try it
@PosingwithPeter
3 жыл бұрын
Ayy welcome to the channel and thanks so much for your support! Congrats on your AoU Hulkbuster and Iron Spider 🤩 There is indeed a way to modify Spidey figures but it's no where near as easy as this video. Mando's costume is mostly loose fabric that's held together with Velcro, meanwhile Spidey figures are sewn /stitched together (the seams are under the armpits and along the sides of the body), so removing and reattaching his suit requires a bit of skill in that department. Additionally once the Spidey suit is removed, the main method to improving his figure's articulation is by shaving off chunks of plastic around the groin so his legs can go higher. Although this would allow the figure to pose better, the other concern is the durability of his suit -- each Spidey figure can be made of different materials, most of which are susceptible to paint damage or permanent creases. It's for these reasons that most collectors don't really pose their Spidey figures aggressively in order to keep the figure in good condition. Hope that info helps!
