I really liked how the episode was like everyone living in the past, rejecting the current state of reality of things in substitution for their past selves/relationships. The Blackwoods vs Brackens being this generational war that no one wins and never ends, Corlys refusal to speak to Rhaanys about the war and naming an heir to Driftmark, Daemon at Harrenhal seeing young Rhaenyra. The return of Alicents brother, Sir Gwayne (the green knight) who we last saw at a tournee in season 1 when alicent and Rhaenyra were still friends, Rhaneyra reclaling that specific moment when she meets with Alicent. Rhaenyra and Alicent meeting to discuss what Viserys said in his dying moments and Rhaenyra saying that the Aegon of Viserys's vision is of Aegon the Conquerer and not Aegon VI (Jon Snow) in the future. A really interesting touch to see how they all suffer as a reuslt of their inability to let go of the past.

I believe with 100% of my being that Daemon never truly intended a child to be killed. The plan was to kill Aemond if possible, the scene where Aemond picks up a gold Dragon coin the assassins dropped in his bedchambers proves that, but move on to another of royal blood if that doesn’t work. However, Blood & Cheese were supposed to fail. Daemon had no way of knowing that Criston Cole would be fucking the dowager Queen instead of guarding the Royal wing. It was about sending a message. ‘You can get to us, we can get to you’. Daemon is genuinely haunted. Harrenhall is canonically haunted AF and people dream of truths they dare not speak aloud. I kind of like that we have some kind of confirmation that Daemon is going to die because the stupid theory that Daemon left Rhaenyra and their children to rot in the war by themselves makes no sense to me. Nor is it realistic that he survived the fall from such a height.

He's clearly starting to feel remorse over the kid's death. His eyes went from looking at Rhaenyra to being fixated on Jaehaerys' dead body. It's more than possible to feel two different regrets at the same time. It may well have been that he couldn't have cared less about Jaehaerys at the time. I actually think he did turn a blind eye to the possibility of them killing another Hightower. But that doesn't mean that guilt won't eventually emerge. It works like that in real life, too. Why do people insist on wanting him to be a one-dimensional, moustache twirling villain. That's boring.

It’s so funny that people think Daemon gives a shit about the dead child. He’s obviously only sad that this made Rhaenyra not like him. Daemon would rip an infant from their mother’s breast and cast them from the tallest tower in Harrenhal if that baby’s father bumped into him at the grocery store checkout.
