Let me add this... this may be “homeless” to people with money but I know what REAL homelessness is. It’s when you have to knock on someone else’s door and wait for them to let you in because you can’t even afford this. This actually looks like some studio apartments I’ve looked at. Homeless is when you don’t have your OWN spot to go to. Where you can’t lay things down anywhere in your space because someone could steal it. This is small but it’s better than being on a shelter. Someone is getting paid for him to live there . That’s all that counts

I'm not trying to take anything, from what you're saying, but living in hotels and motels IS being homeless. Those are temporary shelters NOT your home. Do you know how embarrassing it is to be seen in one of those and having the people that work there looking down on you? No, it's not as bad as living, on the streets, but it's NOT a picnic either! Edit: I stayed in a safe hotel. I was lucky, but some people aren't. There are tons, of families, living in dangerous hotels and motels because that's their only choice. You have to have all of your things in one room. Hotel/Motel living is being homeless if that's your only option besides the streets. I certainly wasn't staying where I was at because I was on vacation!

@@msrain1235Get over yourself. It's not homeless. I live in one and it's nice and warm in here, clean, furnished, cable tv, wifi, large refrigerator, kitchenette, hot shower and bath, quiet outside. Homeless is what the people across the street are that are wrapped in plastic, living in a tent in the woods bathing in a creek, trying to stay warm and find something to eat. There's a big difference in the two.

@TheCsaf243 you get over yourself! You don't know my situation. Not that I owe you any explanation, I lived in a 3 bedroom house before I lost it. I couldn't go to a shelter because they were all full. I worked my ass off to stay in that hotel room which because I worked so much without much sleep I got sick a lot. I don't care what you say. That room wasn't my home. It was temporary shelter! I had to put a lot of my things in my room. Don't be so judgmental just because you have a different story than someone else. You don't have the right to do that! Like I said, I wasn't staying at that hotel because I was on vacation! Whether you like to believe it or not staying in a hotel or motel is being homeless because that wasn't your home before whatever happened to you. So once again you get over yourself and stop being judgmental! And another thing people that did vacation there talked about and looked down on us that lived there as well as the workers. I've heard that the hotel where I used to live has gotten worse.

Yes, with landlords, some could be greed. But as a homeowner, property taxes and insurance, and upkeep prices keep rising because of inflation. So landlords have to keep raising rents to offset the higher prices. After all they are in the business to make money. Many of them depend on the money themselves to live on. If they have to pay higher prices, then they have to raise rents. It trickles down and affects everyone. Just because a person is a landlord, doesn't mean they are rich, or even close.

I agree our citizenry should be prioritized first. Even though I am all for immigrants wanting to better their own lives it unfortunately places geographical pressure in certain areas. Just look at LA and it's surrounding areas where the natives can't compete with countless immigrant families that are all crowded just to pay rent causing lack of housing and rents to soar. Some people don't have it like that but I doubt the immigration problem is going to stop anytime soon especially in blue states.

Thankfully we own our home, but taxes keep going up and we have to carry insurance. Prices of everything getting higher is affecting everyone, but the rich. Rents go up because property taxes and upkeep and insurance are going up, up, up! I feel so bad for these children and families. 65 yrs old and I've never seen this. However, I do know there were homeless people during the Great Depression.

Americans are homeless and it's rising in numbers. Yet, our southern border is wide open, and "undocumented" workers send their kids by themselves to live here in the USA. We pay for their housing, food, medical expenses, and education. Everything for free yet our own citizens struggle with living in shelters, motels, and the great outdoors. Where's the justice for our fellow citizens?????? Anywhere in the country?

Get off the prejudice against calling a motel home. At least they have shelter
@msrain1235

It's not their home though. People can argue that people that live in homeless shelters aren't homeless either because they have a roof over their heads. Where I used to live if a person lived in their car they weren't considered homeless because they had a roof over their heads. Can you imagine? Motels and hotels are turning into homeless shelters.
