agree. I think moving forward this is what gonna be Tatum's and Brown's roles for the Celtics's offense. Tatum is gonna be the facilitator and Brown is gonna be the slasher. It took them 6-7 years to figure this out, but I'm glad the hero ball mentality between these two has been minimized significantly.

People are missing the point hat none of the other Celtics cook like they do withouth the defense that Tatum attracts. Nobody on the team is drawing the level of doubles that Tatum is drawing. On the Celtics defensive side, Brown and Tatum have their strengths that are different, but allow them to cove a lot of space. Brown is more agile and has more lateral speed, meanwhile Tatum is a better rim protector. The eye test swing more in Browns direction as that's what most people are attracted to.

Your right in your explanation about how tatum is better operating in this manor. These plays were focused around tatum. JB has many plays ran specifically for him with similar actions, especially him and porzingis. As for series MVP, its not about numbers. Its not like iggy and steph. JT has a lot of gravity but when you watch the games he does miss a certain 'tenacity' that JB brings and is willing to answer to teams with. Ive been a celtics fan my whole life. I grew up on PP, the truth. He was the TRUTH. I know i will only remember the best of times but man it just seems like at the end of the game he would never let it be that he was the reason they lost or regularly bailed them out. JB and Tatum arent like that, but JB has some of it. That mixed with his willingness to gaurd luka, and force so many bad passes, never needing doubles... that helped team in similar ways to JT's offensive gravity did. If JB is nuetralizing the offensive gravity of luka taking that challenge while JT kept it non chalant for the most part until game 5. It really comes down to they were really kinda equal this finals in terms of effect on the game, and their series win. JB though, had the clutch moments, and gaurded luka. Its not always the best player but who plays the most important role who wins the MVP.

Great comment... Yeah, Tatum had a great final game, and if he ends up being a distributor that capitalizes on his gravity, my opinion might change but... I just think Brown's work ethic is too valuable. I still feel like I can't really trust the team or the game to Tatum

The real problem is that basketball fans have become too obsessed with there needing to be a number 1 super star on every team and can't fathom the idea that there can be more than 1 star working together. The Celtics are closer to a 1A and 1B so everyone has become obsessed with trying to pit them against each other instead of just letting them ball together. Neither of them are truly built to carry an entire team and they both fill in each other's gaps.

@@KnightMan16 I think people are skeptical that great players can share opportunities like that, maybe based on what happened w Shaq and Kobe. But the Warriors proved that massive talents can function well alongside each other. And older teams too of course. @@KnightMan16 Exactly, people are trying to force pressure onto tatum because they disrespect how good JB is. It makes JT feel like he has to answer and JB is his brother he doesnt want to JT to go down bad either so its a tough situation the media forces them into to start and get drama instead of letting them embrace that tatum really dont like that 'kobe' killer mentality as of yet. He could still get there, just like JB slowly is. People just get mad at JT's potential cause when you watch it really does look like he can do more, he does a lot of standing around.

It seems like Tatum's improved playmaking ability has allowed him to basically be the Celtic's PG, and his willingness to play that role allowed Brown to play more as the shooting guard, both increasing his confidence as a scorer and solidifying his specific role on the team (where before it felt like Brown and Tatum were essentially taking turns playing the same roles). It's not wrong to do so, but I think framing Tatum playing the 1 spot as him being the better player misses the point, which is how him doing so makes his whole team better and the difference that made compared to a season ago

All this video shows me is that according to you, if you get more opportunity to do something, that automatically makes you better than somebody else. Even the plays you showed with JB, when he gets the ball, he's displaying that he can make the same exact corner reads as JT and two defensive players are covering him just the same aka JB too has gravity. In my opinion, JB being efficient for the first 3 wins while hitting the biggest shots, playing amazing defense, and showing his own ability to play make when the opportunity came his way at a higher level than many expected (especially game 3, the game that really clinched the series) is why he won FMVP and if someone wants to believe JB is "better" they have a right to do so.

Personally I think Dallas gave Tatum TOO much respect on defense. And I think you're doing the same here. Tatum was cold from 3, wasn't comfortable in the midrange, and when ever he drove he would do euro steps and throw up wild layups with NO lift or just make the simple read from Dallas constantly trying to shrink the floor. Its a 5 out offense the reads shouldn't be that hard when teams over commit on you. The reads were easier to make than trying to finish at the rim for Tatum. As for JB being more efficient. He is a improved playmaker and more a 3 level scorer. Whereas Tatum is more 3pointer or hard drive scorer. Brown is also a more explosive down hill scorer than Tatum. Game 3 proved this and then some. Brown was getting the same coverage from Dallas but unlike Tatum, Brown is more comfortable rising in the midrange and was still playmaking for others Tatum included.

This is a team game. Tatum did what he needed to do to win, while Brown did what he did esp on defending the other side's top player night in night out, while scoring efficiently. Then there're the other Celtics where everyone contributed. I disagree your point about Tatum is a little "better" if you're not defining this clearly. And even as a scorer I have some reservations because Tatum lack Brown's discipline & his inside game where Brown consitently scores in the 8-18 footers & Tatum lives & dies with the 3 a lot.
