Don't forget that the smaller piston is connected to a lever arm. Without this lever, it would be much much harder for someone to apply force "F" over a distance of 50 cm.

It doesn't multiply your force output it multiples your work. Work is defined as energy put in a system used in a useful manner. So if you pump a hydraulic jack it will use more of your energy input than otherwise. I heard someone say that you could just use this as a infinite energy glitch, but again it doesn't multiply energy it multiplies work. Energy and matter can neither be created nor destroyed.
