I know they live basically forever so population control would be important but since they can all pass from magical backup and it happens to a point there’s a memorial at the annual convention to commemorate the fairies who passed away from it was can assume it happens often enough that they should consider allowing people to have kids if they want. I can see only a few fairies really wanting to though, since their culture puts WAAAY less emphasis on having children compared to human cultures lol. My favorite fairy lore tidbit is that all of Fairy World used to be powered by Mr. Crocker's belief in fairies. When he stopped believing in fairies for an episode, there was a huge power outage that almost led to Fairy World being destroyed. After making Mr. Crocker believe in fairies again, Timmy confronted Jorgen about how unstable the system was, so he changed it to run off of the belief of multiple fairy-chasing nutjobs. They feel like what actual godparents are supposed to be. People who help a kid out, who look out for them and make sure the parents get a break every now and then. They write what I missed about the old FOP cartoon before seasonal rot kicked in and that was HOW much Cosmo and Wanda loved Timmy and vice versa. You felt like they were his real parents a lot of the time, versus his actual parents... but the seasonal rot and refusing to let Timmy and the cast age (even though it's confirmed via channel chasers, Timmy keeps his fairies until he's like, WAY into college, so even up to highschool he has them) meant that love went into something really toxic. The live actions making it sound like Cosmo and Wanda were essentially enslaved and stuck with Timmy's hell spawn was even worse. tbh i think the solution for cosmo and wanda's flanderization WAS that butch hartman has less creative control, ironically. that dude became huge into gender roles in some, way, shape or form (the episode where boys and girls are separated into different countries is REALLY telling) and that seeps into his characters. cosmo and wanda didn't really flanderize "typically" by just exaggerating their existing traits, they morphed into "man fairy" and "woman fairy"

@@HalfTangible You dont NEED to hate something to have a prejudice against it. Nobody is saying he hates men or women. But the fact that he portrays them using harmful stereotypes is a problem. "Early FOP also had an episode directly about how boys and girls SHOULD do stereotypical girl/boy stuff". The fact that you completely missed the point of the episode. It was supposed to show that gender roles are a social construct, that girls can like comic books, and that just because you're a girl it doesn't mean you SHOULD do stereotypical but do what makes you happy regardless of Gender. But throughout the episode, it was filled with sexist jokes about how women are emotional and how men are sloppy gross pigs. I need you to go and rewatch that episode and tell me it wasn't filled with "Gender Roles". Also for the "Cosmo gets Pregnant". Literally every show from the early 2000's had a Mpreg episode. ESPECIALLY Nickelodeon, name a show, and there's a Mpreg episode. Making fun of pregnancy by making a man go through it and filling it with "humor" about hormones doesn’t mean its flipping "Gender Roles". All they did was make fun of people who get pregnant for having outbursts and weird food cravings. Cosmo and Wanda's characters can be summarized by this, "Dope husband Smart Wife". Or how I like to call it, "The Homer and Marge Simpson effect"(Based on Flanders). Pretty much if a couple on-screen are together for long enough the husband will turn into a lovable idiot and the wife will turn into a buzz kill know-it-all.

Ok here’s a bit of fun new lore/trivia added by New Wish - Cosmo and Wanda’s true forms were revealed to be BIBLICALLY ACCURATE ANGELS. Cosmo is specifically a Throne (multi interlocking wheels with hundreds of eyes) while Wanda is revealed to be a Power (winged sword). It is astounding how well this fits into the existing lore. Cosmo was considered so destructive and powerful as a baby that further fairy children were outlawed because of him - Thrones are in the top 3 most powerful angels in the angel hierarchy. This even works in context of how Jorgen is his cousin and in charge of Fairyworld, since it implies their family is higher ranked. Heck it even helps explain Anti-Cosmo being the leader of the Antifairies pre-Irep even when he was the youngest, because he’s the counterpart of a high rank angel. Meanwhile, Powers are 4th or 5th ranked - which works with how Momma Cosmo hated Cosmo marrying Wanda, because Cosmo would be marrying DOWN. And the funny thing is how it’s when Butch Hartman is NOT on the show’s production that religion and angels gets this overtly referenced. Considering what Butch’s been doing on his own in the past decade. AND fans actually find it really cool!

So basically, one seemingly small problem snowballs into a big mess that destroys everything. And in reverse, fixing that one problem has a chain reaction that causes other problems to get fixed as well. I always thought that Cosmo and Wanda hating eachother was a comparatively insignificant problem in a show filled with bigger problems, and that such a tiny problem couldn't possibly have a huge impact on a show that was already a big mess. I never would have suspected that what seemed like small potatos was the root cause of the cloud of bigger problems surrounding it. And it REALLY surprised me that Cosmo and Wanda hating eachother was somehow the culprit for Timmy becoming a worse character. I did NOT see that coming, but it makes a lot of sense.

But I’m happy to see how you pointed out how toxic the relationship of the main trio had gotten in the later seasons. Timmy downright infuriated me when he demanded “wave the wand woman!” to Wanda in a season 9 episode. I’m glad the dynamic of Hazel, Cosmo, and Wanda feels wholesome and funny like the original seasons of FOP

Originally that type of Joke in media was meant to be a subversion of marriage expectations like "wow, they're married, BUT THEY HATE EACH OTHER! Yooooo!, i think that type of joke was first introduced in the Honeymooners. but then overtime, it just became lame, which is why I'm glad they're a happy married couple again! It's just more enjoyable to watch them simply love each other! The reboot in General has a Lot of Love, and that's why i love it!

You nailed it on the head when you described Cosmo and Wanda's flanderization turning into hearing two people fight in another room. Which is why I was nervous to hear a new series for this, because the reboots basically had turned Cosmo and Wanda into slaves to the Turner lineage. It seemed like no matter what, after thousands of years, they were finally STUCK with Timmy forever and I think we were all concerned it'd be more of the same. I'm happy to hear, the show is truly delightful and pushes the new 3D art to it's maximum. It's great to hear, that they FINALLY let things go forward. It's also hilarious watching clips and seeing how many turn into "Yeah, SOMEONE winkwink nudge nudge was the reason for that rule" TBH I hope they NEVER see Timmy in this one...

It’s a consequence of writing a long running series. When you have already written a hundred+ episodes of a show and you are asked to keep making more, it gets much harder to come up with new ideas that work well with what has already been set up. Characters that are simple and focused around one extremely exaggerated trait are a lot easier to keep writing jokes about. Ned Flanders is easier to write jokes for if he can be a quick stand in whenever the writers come up with a joke about religious people or conservative Christianity. Cosmo’s stupidity being exaggerated more makes it easier for him to fit into whatever joke the writers think of about stupidity. More nuanced characters mean that you might come up with a joke but find that your characters don’t fit for the joke, so you need to find a new joke.

One major difference I’ve noticed about this show is that it feels a lot more wholesome. As much as I like watching the original show, it got very mean spirited at times. I honestly don’t mind because it’s makes me laugh, but for a kid who’s learning life lessons I think this show is a little better for them to watch.

To me they fixed an even bigger flaw than Flanderization, the series got WAAAY too over reliant on their one constant in the series, establish a joke and then riff on it 7 or 8 times in the span of 11 minutes, like saying the word "Ostrich" then spending a much time as they can cramming in that one joke in over and over and over again, it became horrible redundant even in the multi part specials. So im glad they got away from writing jokes with their brains on auto pilot

The different ways a child can loose a fairy are: revealing the secret of fairies to a human that doesn't also have a fairy, becoming an adult as defined by Da' Rules, rejecting your fairy, your fairy submitting paperwork to quit, your fairy dying, or the exact trauma that lead to your fairy being assigned gets fixed. That last reason is why Timmy erased his parents' memories when they chose to fire Vicky.

timmy wished for the world to stop aging, for no one to notice that happened, and that cosmo forget that he granted that wish, then 50 years go by before that whole thing comes out. honestly, i think that little bit of lore can work into how everyone's personalities morphed, because something something the whole not aging thing is mindfucking the fairies and timmy is carrying that guilt and its low-key messing with everyone.

I think we're just so familiar with the fairly oddparents we forget that the gag is the odd couple reference. Is a core part of the show. Because of the show's audience nick hyper focused on Timmy to the point where they white washed Cosmo and Wanda and everyone else were one dimensional characters. And a one note odd couple parody is just a disfuncional toxic relationship not an endearing expression of affection between two contrasting personalities. They match each other's freak

Ok I have an idea for a spin off. Peri now godchildless gets reassigned to...an adult. A young professional woman who's burnt out and depressed and needs a little magic in her life. It would be a bit more mature and kinda speak to the now grown up viewers of the original.
