Park Street, a former 1970s motel in Brunswick, Melbourne, has undergone a sensitive renovation by Milieu in collaboration with Breathe Architecture.
This 'renovate to rent' model addresses housing challenges by repurposing an existing building, diverting waste from landfills, and increasing rental supply.
The interior design retains the nostalgic charm while incorporating modern appliances and sustainability features like electric heating, solar panels, and carbon-neutral operation.
The outdoor spaces have been transformed into lush green areas, promoting community and sustainability. This project showcases how existing structures can be reborn as carbon-neutral, community-enhancing spaces, addressing climate and housing issues.
