I run the gasconade in Missouri in aluminum hull boats and we suck up quarter sized rocks all the time the whole river is large river rock we’ve hit logs stumps boulders and ran aground on a gravel bar at 40 mph, it just dulls the impeller when you suck up rocks and all you need to do is pull the shoe and sharpen with a file, we run on less than 6” of water on every shoal you pass, a prop wouldn’t make it 1/8 mile down the river.

I want a vertical impeller and a lower foot that bolts on inside the hull. A sliding gate valve .or rotary gate valve. Outlets above the impeller to the transom. But more to the sides and two aiming forward for reverse thrust. A spring loaded piston that is pushed forward as the water flow is diverted. The piston has a link to a hinged door opening up the port to allow flow out.

Im super curious, does it have reverse, and how does it work if it does?
@josephanore6734
Жыл бұрын
The little hole where the prop should be is actually the exhaust pipe, and the flap with the hole for the exhaust to come out is called the reverse gate. The lever on the right side of that is connected to a shift cable and when you throttle forwards it drops the gate and it looks like a donut the center hole is the exhaust and the ring opening is where water is sprayed out. When you shift into reverse the gate flaps all the way up blocking the jet stream but letting the exhaust come out of the little hole and the gate redirects the jet stream down and forwards(reverse)

Southern muddy swamps they'd be clogged all the time. on a plane seaweed gets chopped into cabbage at 1000mph. normally you clog grate if your puttering around. sand will seize it up if you glide onto sand bar motor needs tilted up b4 motor stops spinning or the tight tolerance of impeller/ shim plate will hold motor in place.
