So, in conclusion: we want deep, philosophical settings, with cheerful, happy girls.

ID: Invaded was and is pretty decent feels like they should have kept it more episodic at first rather than trying to rush everything into it as they did. The idea of capturing a killers mind and being able to explore it to try and find them and stop them is a neat idea overall heck its follow up manga is all about catching one killer this person who gets people to crash cars with them inside and then somehow lives and their crazy followers. Also unlike Psycho pass I both do and do not understand why they keep the system in ID: Invaded secret on one hand it is very experimental and by the end of the series they only have 2 reliable people to use it with so they cant figure out everything and every crime. On the other I do not understand why only this one group of like 10 people can be the only ones to know about the system yah the person at the center of it should not be revealed cause that is a literal reality ending threat possibly but having the personel would be pretty nice

Interesting video, I'm happy to see more people expanding into otaku literature to explore what they enjoy about anime. I was a bit confused as to why you insisted LycoReco was directly influenced by Psycho-Pass specifically given how prevalent that sort of story is in media and even in one of anime's biggest properties Ghost in the Shell which I think could have been circumvented by just not making the assertion unless it was mentioned in an interview or something, but I generally enjoyed the exercise of deconstructing the similar elements between the works anyway. I did find the reservation about talking about the moe database in the context of Evangelion humorous given how tied to said database Evangelion is given its influences and even the creative process behind the characters where Anno said he later went on to add Mari to touch on the glasses girl character. That being said, I did take exception to the Yuuki Yuuna section, especially given the context of its comparison to Madoka Magica (And this is coming from someone whose entire internet persona is built around a Madoka character). It certainly can't be denied that YuYuYu is a direct response to Madoka Magica and it does rely on the viewer's assumed knowledge of the series, but to say it's going so in a purely derivative way and isn't transformative with its elements on a thematic level feels overly dismissive of the series. Seiji Kishi, the director of the series, has talked about in interviews how he felt there wasn't really a reward for the struggles the characters went through in Madoka Magica, and so he directly made YuYuYu as a response to that, almost as sort of a reclamation of the genre in a way. In the same way Madoka subverts viewer expectations to sort of criticize some of the ideas of the more tokusatsu inspired magical girl shows released in the wake of Sailor Moon, Yuuki Yuuna is subverting viewer expectations to critique some of the ideas popularized with the release of Madoka Magica. I feel like criticizing YuYuYu for doing the same thing Madoka Magica did is a bit unfair to the show and what it was trying to do. Also, the assertion that it "diffuses the meaning of its already mostly ineffectual dark twists and turns by just undoing them in the end" is missing a crucial element of the show. Part of its critique of Madoka was in its presentation of Kyuubey as being morally reprehensible. YuYuYu instead presents the Shinju-sama as being generally well meaning. The system of YuYuYu is not meant to be exploitative and it isn't meant to feel shocking that it appears to be that way, the show is anticipating viewers to expect it to present the Taisha and Shinju-sama that way. It's directly stated in the show, I believe in episode 7 but forgive me as it's been almost a decade since I watched it, that offerings to the gods are temporary. When they give offerings to the gods, in the context of this specific scene being the food, that they are only temporary. You're not meant to give the food to the gods or relatives in a way that would waste the food, you give them as a temporary offering and then get them back. This was directly foreshadowing the ending with the parts of themselves being offerings to the Shinju-sama. There's much more that can be said in regards to the show and what it's doing that says so much more than just expecting the viewer to consume it solely for its characters than can realistically be said in a KZitem comment, but this just sort of highlights my general problem with the presentation of this video. While I appreciate you exploring these ideas and trying to start this dialogue, it feels needlessly cynical at times in how these ideas are presented. While its certainly true that these moe database elements can be consumed and enjoyed by people without actually even consuming the work in question thanks to the existence of things like fan art, doujinshi, fanfiction, etc. it felt rather unnecessary to present this idea in such a way that put down other shows. This isn't to say that you have to enjoy something like Yuuki Yuuna or How Not To Summon A Demon Lord, but as demonstrated above we all have gaps in our perspectives and it's very easy to miss things that other people might really appreciate about a show, so I just generally don't find it very constructive to be so dismissive of shows as to try and generalize them the way you did in this video at points. Despite my criticisms, and the psychic damage the YuYuYu section did to me, I did appreciate what you were doing with the video and hope to see more content exploring the vast wealth of information that has already been built up for us with this type of literature.

First of all, I just want to say I appreciate the thoughtful criticism, considering your issues with the video. I did structure it around my own opinion that Lycoris Recoil seems influenced by Psycho Pass. I agree that many of the similarities between the two are pretty common elements in a lot of media. But when compared to other series like Ghost in the Shell, I would say that Lycoris Recoil and Psycho-Pass have more in common, which is what led me to draw that conclusion. However, I could be entirely wrong. Your criticism of my perspective on YuYuYu is also fair. In retrospect I let my dislike of the show prevent me from doing much research surrounding its creation. I did strongly state my opinions, but didn't intend to make it seem like it's impossible to find any value in the series where I didn't. Like any series, its worth is up to interpretation by each individual viewer. Ultimately, I still think it fails in its attempt to "reclaim the genre" and at being an enjoyable show. But I admit I could have done a better job of trying to understand what it was trying to accomplish before criticizing it in the way I did here; I'll try to improve on that going forward. Sorry the video was such a mixed experience for you, but still, thanks for watching! I wanted to try something different so I'm glad you enjoyed the attempt if nothing else.

It's back up now. Sorry, I just wanted to take some time to look into a possible oversight that was pointed out. Unlisting it while I did that was a mistake though. Hope you enjoy Psycho-Pass, it's a great show!
