Don’t worry bro, you can always… bend the rules 😏 But seriously, you should look at other iPhones since iOS 12 is getting further and further back each day. I would still recommend the iPhone 8 if the camera isn’t your top priority nor a oled screen. It has the same performance as the iPhone X, but retains the classic design and home button (aka, you iPhone 6 case may fit). It is an underrated iPhone since the iPhone SE 2020 and recent prices do reflect that. However, if your current battery is still okay, nothing stops you from using it till it gives up. But hey, still, gotta give you creds for using that good old boy and … bending conventions 😝

Mac Address is wrong. He defends apple for slowing down phones. He says that apple is better than android because they offer more software support. Even though you can't use a iphone 6 (2014) on ios 8 anymore today. All your old apps on ios 8 get disabled and your forced to update your ios. Meanwhile if you never update your android on 5.0 (2014), it will still work with all apps. Also macs slow down after updates but they don't have batteries so the whole battery degrade excuse is pure horseshit. Why doesn't he mention how apple purposely makes it impossible to downgrade ios on iphones by not allowing unsigned ipsws.

I have that specific SE. I absolutely love it. I bought it in 2016 and I swear I had no slow-downs whatsoever. Might be totally subjective, obviously. I had used the 4S for so long and iOS there _significantly_ worsened my experience. At some point it was so bad, that it just turned off at 80% energy. This didn't happen with the SE at all. It still feels as smooth as before. One of the big reasons for why I haven't upgraded is because I hate the newer iPhones rounded design and the SE had these beautiful sharp edges. No root, no nothing. The "Android doesn't get updates" meme is just wrong, and has been for a long time. The more important thing is that Android phones don't need updates anymore. Most security updates are now delivered via the Play Store as Play Security Updates. The problem is that while it still gets the iOS updates, there are a few features that just happen to cut off at gen 6 for the vanilla iPad line: Apple Pencil, Sidecar, and Universal Control are all unavailable. So the usefulness of gen 5 is limited for anything but media consumption or browsing. It's 'only' from 2017 (I think), so I was a little bummed each time new things were added that it could not do. I’ve had the iPad Air 2 since it was new. I used to use it for remote learning and now it’s mainly a media consumption device if I’m away from my computer. Has definitely served its purpose throughout the years but the battery life is a fraction of its former self.

For all the good iOS brings, the fact that Apple haven't just given up and copied Android's notifications full stop is infuriating.
@cedricpomerleau5586

I’m not sure I like Android notifications. The way they group apps together so you can’t turn on notifications in Chat and turn off the notifications in Gmail is incredibly annoying. I just turn off most notifications. When you only have 4-5 notifications at a time, iOS works well.
@grey5626

@Tommy Oliver 3D: I despise all the notification systems and do not think any of the implementations are good. If I wanted that sort of thing, that was what Growl was for, it should not be baked into an OS. Now websites constantly have "Do you want to allow notifications" UIs even though my browsers are configured to never allow them. It is a usability disaster, all over the place.

Thing is with the Android - iOS comparison is that Apple has to worry about supporting just 2 major lineups of products that run it, while there's practically a new Android device every week from another random company that has nothing to do with Android beyond using their operating system. You could call this a weakness of Android by if Windows released a version almost every year, they'd encounter the same issue.

Your home aesthetic always makes me think that there will be a “Moooooom, I’m filming right now” outtake eventually 😁 To the point of the vid, it is nice to see. For the droid comparison, I have an S20 ultra that will basically be abandonware next year, if it isn’t already. Real shame. Its a nice piece that would easily sustain future iterations of Android without a hitch. If Samsung would let it. Now, Apple, free up the purchase of board level components too and you’ll be super cool.

Although the 2018 12.9” Pro is my daily driver, my old Air 2 from launch day is still a surprisingly good secondary machine for basic KZitem or video calls and stuff. Even the battery is still holding up pretty fine actually. It was way too powerful for its time.

Apple’s excellent software support is by far one of the biggest reasons I’ve moved to the iPhone over the past couple of years. My 2019 iPhone 11 will need its battery replaced soon (79% health) but it’s really nice having a phone that still performs excellently a couple years after purchasing it and knowing it’ll still be supported for likely longer than I’ll actually keep it. This is also why I actually feel comfortable spending big money on their iPad Pro - I know it’ll be supported for years and I can have the battery replaced when it needs it. Samsung’s best tablets still only seem to get a couple years or so of updates before being cut off. Really wish it was easier to swap the batteries on these devices though.

Epic video, loved the shooting and pace :D 2 things I'd add though lol - Don't forget the iPad Mini 4, with the A8, (yes the iPhone 6's SoC), literally the oldest & slowest SoC to run iOS 15 :P How it runs on that would be interesting. - Also, you mentioned on Android you'd be lucky to get 1 update - welp, not really so, Samsung and OnePlus promised to support their devices for 5 years after launch, including security updates. Still not as much as Apple, but yeah. Literally today Xiaomi pledged for a good few years lol. And also with Android, you can install a custom ROM and prolong that even further if you fancy that :) Keep up these high quality videos! :3

That point about wanting to turn off an app's non-essential notifications, like a delivery app's promotion notification, is something I like about Android. Each app has a notification channel, and you are able to turn off an app's individual notification categories. Makes for a cleaner notification experience.

I just switched my iPad Air 2 (on iOS 15) to the M1 iPad Pro 12.9 and it was eye opening!! I was so used to the iPad I wasn’t noticing how slow it really was. I don’t think iOS 15 should be able to run on the iPad Air 2, it made it way slower than on iOS 14. Anyway , that said I love my new iPad and strongly recommend it.

I NEVER "upgrade" software. It is engineered obsolescence. The one time I did, the java patch I needed turned my computer into a doorstop. They can keep their useless "upgrades." It's not as if they tell us what they are or how to use them. There are no instruction manuals, and Apple wastes its Web site on pretty pictures instead of information.

I’ve been using an iPhone 6Splus up until two days ago. Due to a failing battery I’ve decided to update to a slightly newer device. If the battery have had a proper batter health, I wouldn’t doubt that it would perform quite well. Apps that I use daily stopped working properly so I decided to retire the phone and gotten an iPhone XS.(I so hate the notch…) . Got a pretty sweet deal on a 256gb one with 94% battery health. I’m still going to charge the 6Splus and keep it alive as much as possible.
