Sign up and comment here and tell me the best deal you got through Swagbucks! www.influencerlink.org/SHUd Hey again, everyone! I made some changes based on feedback from the previous videos. (Brighter background, talking slower, etc.) Let me know what you think! Also, something I noticed during editing: Yeah, the instruments in bleemcast for Metal Gear Solid definitely sound different from the original game, mostly because they lack reverb. It was apparently not jarring enough for me to notice during gameplay, though. The previous bleemcast games don't share this issue, since they mostly use streamed audio. Remember, if I said something incorrectly in the video, feel free to leave a comment correcting me. I'll try my best to add all the corrections to this comment. As always, thanks for watching! EDIT: Sorry, I should've mentioned that a lot of the gameplay footage is sped up, as some of you noticed. This was to make the capture device's recording errors less obvious. Rest assured, the games don't actually run too fast. Good eye, though!

This can be due to licensing of the games themselves or bad/untested performance on games.

Bleem! may have died on its hill, but it nonetheless played a pivotal role; The Sony lawsuit set legal precedent and emulators are perfectly legal. The acquisition of ROM (or other) files to work with them might be another matter, but emulators are incredibly important. Eventually the original hardware will have all failed and emulators (or hardware clones) will be all that's left. Also it being programmed in Assembly is bonkers. Few thoughts on the supposed high performance of the emulator: from what I have known there are two distinct types of emulator, the first seek to emulate every machine instructions to be as close to the original hardware and circuits as possible, and the second only cares about whether or not the game runs on the emulator or not. Because preservation and fidelity is not the concern, the second type do not actually have to emulate correctly the original hardware rather relying on workarounds and hacks to circumvent the original programming, this means you can have considerably less overhead and in some cases even take advantage of the new architecture in ways that are impossible in the original hardware. The drawback is emulators of the second type tends to only be able to emulate one or two games correctly, which is not a problem for the bleem emulator given that every bleem disc is only supposed to emulate the game they are paired with.

Your 3rd video and you already have 100K+ subscribers as well as a sponsor (which isn’t as impressive but amazing than the less) and making acceptable content to the viewers. Congratulations because of the KZitem’s algorithm causing “new” channels to grow heavily in a short amounts of time with low upload rates too. I guess you hit the jackpot (not a big one but still great) and you seem to get the hang of it. Although with your slow upload rate with this video being the latest and is 2 weeks ago. If not be expecting a huge project for now but later on. Yet, the content you make is impressive and blocks the hatred and low effort content-criticism from viewers of your videos. None the less you make great content for the time being (of course considering this is the 3 video you created and is learning from there hence the top comment of yours). But I’m indeed quite impressed from that possibility. Either way I hope you enhance the content you create for us viewers to watch and learn as you make more! This was just my point of view of what I thought the KZitem’s algorithm has to offer for channels like yours. Again, I hope you improve with my good luck! - Okwardi

How does it work so fast?! "Assembly". I have to say I'm pretty disappointed, was really hoping for a much more in depth explenation... then again, I never heared of this, and you got me really intrested, so thanks for sharing!

Assembly is just really basic instructions. It's a bunch of simple commands. "Look at this bit of memory", "Add 1 to it", "Put the result in this bucket", "Divide that bucket by three. Throw the answer away, but give the number left over", "Put that number in this other bucket", "Call this part 'A'", "Now go over to this bucket", "Take that number, come back to 'A'", "Set the bucket on fire, we don't need it anymore."... It's a really limited set of instructions, but you can do some whack-ass bullshit with it if you know how. It's literally the language machines think in. If you know how to speak that language, you can go wild. If you want a fun way to learn the concepts and implementation of Assembly, I recommend you pick up _EXAPUNKS_ on Steam.

@@Noxedwin I know already what assembly is, I understood what the video said. I hoped for some in depth analysis of, for example, what possible contact points between the two consoles are, that allow for some shortcuts in the emulator, rather than having to properly translate each instruction. I don't know, since I am unfamiliar with the platforms, but as an example we could say that both consoles share a ready to use function to calculate matrices, and that both instructions are executed the same way. In this case you can pass the matrices directly to the processor for them to be calculated, rather than hand-building a matrix-calculation function that repeats the steps of the PSX, like a proper emulator should do, with the intent of improving performace. An example of such a case would be, emulating the N64 on PC, to use the driver's bilinear filtering to filter the textures. This would be a mistake, as the N64 did _not_ use bilinear filtering, but rather a "3-point filtering" approach, as described here: filthypants.blogspot.com/2014/12/n64-3-point-texture-filtering-in.html ...I was expecting such kind of informations to be shared, and was a bit unsatisfied when the answer was simply "Assembly", yeah that's impressive, but not really descriptive. Shame the devs couldn't tell us more...

"emulating a game is harder than simply playing a game programmed to run on a console" wii u: huh? what? i can't hear you *runs wii games in an emulator *

vWii isn't an emulator. It's more akin to a hypervisor, only emulating the (much weaker) Starlet ARM9 security/IO processor and Hollywood GPU. The CPU is passed through although without multiprocesssing and other advances. The Wii U's Espresso CPU is purposely a 32-bit PowerPC core to make vWii's job much easier.

I could've sworn that "Bleem" stood for, "Best little emulator ever made". Though, that could've just been what users named it.

Love your videos! I would’ve assumed this type of editing would’ve taken years practice but you got the hang of it pretty quickly.

The Sony PS1 used a 32-bit RISC processor with the MIPS 1 instruction set running at ~34MHz [1] and the Dreamcast a 32-bit RISC processor with a different instruction set @200MHz[2]. While the ISAs are differnt both are RISC CPUs and that is probably the reason why it ran so good (not much to emulate/translate when the base system uses very similar instructions). PCs use the x86 architecture and thus are CISCs[3] not RISCs -> far more to emulate/translate. For a channel called "Tech Rules" your tech knowledge/skills are sorely lacking IMHO.... You hit the nail on the head. The description for bleem's inner workings is shoddy and it seems like he simply read the wikipedia article (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleem!) for us.
