Pays to learn about cars before you get to the age of a driver's license, for sure. Knowing *what* you're looking for before you look at it, and knowing what to look for when you *do* go look at it certainly goes a long way when buying buying, new or used. The rest of you can waste money on mechanics doing the easy work for you if you're unwilling to educate yourselves on the simplest of things, like changing oil and light bulbs, for example.

@@TAKETopicS Even if that were English, I'd still have to disagree. BMW used to make a quality product up until the late '80's-early '90s, while Honda made a quality product into the early '00s. The pressures of the emissions and safety regulations is what killed the quality in those German and Japanese automobiles, along with corporate greed. As the more stringent government restrictions and the advent of manufacturing automation set in, all auto makers began compromising quality for profit as the world economy has continued to plummet, and as the automobile has become increasingly disposable. Cars are no longer built by people who are proud of or their work and their quality checks. Machines do almost all of the work, and workers who are paid menially QI them and send them out to be sold. The pride in producing a new automobile is equivalent to someone quality checking a Big Mac at McDonald's.

The real problem is the cost of the cars for the small car dealerships. The small dealer buys from New Car Stores their trade ins. The new car dealers are putting more money in trades because people come in their broke and want to buy a new car and don't have cash to put down. Some of the new car stores are just greedy so they take these trades in for next to nothing and then the small dealer tries to buy them and the prices are ridiculous. Which leaves very little room for profit to keep the dealership open . Then you get the customer that comes into the dealership and they think that they can buy the car dirt cheap. They a deal. Well the mechanic that does the work has a family and he needs to feed his family so he wants to get paid a decent wage. This is a very tough losing battle it's very hard.... That's the main reason you see small dealerships going in and out all the time. It's greed of everyone. Over head is the killer in business

For instance the paint jobs these cars arrive at dealerships with is atrocious but that's just my opinion. Others may disagree with me & think the paint jobs are of high caliber.

It’s a big job. Subframe has to come down, and there are multiple other parts needed to do the job right. Stuff like the oil pan bolts, the oil pan itself is plastic and wise to replace it as they warp. There are other miscellaneous parts like seals from components you need to remove to get access. It’s usually a 1500 job or so.

I've always been a Japanese car enthusiast, well that & some choice US domestics I've always been fond of. Idk why Americans are so apathetic & ok with it but it really grinds my gears that we've allowed Asian automakers to embarrass, outbuild & outperform our domestic autos here in the States. I love Japanese vehicles, especially Honda but it would've been so much better if the 'Big 3' were on their A game from the 80s all the way through the beginning of the 00s... So much technology overlooked & simply not even used throughout those decades. Sad! I got a bit of topic 😒
