As Cleveland natives, "Major League" is one of our family's all-time favorite movies. My dad will remark that Uecker's character looks like a Harry Doyle! 😂 He and I quote Harry Doyle often: "Free admission to anyone who was actually alive the last time the Indians won the pennant!" "Ball four." "Ball eight." "Welcome to another edition of Teepee Talk!" "The Indians have won a few games here and there, and are threatening to climb out of the cellar." 😂😂😂😂😂

When Bob Uecker was offered the job and read the script, he immediately turned down the offer to play Harry Doyla as the lead broadcaster for the Indians in "Major League". When the producers asked why, Uecker said "the baseball language is so disingenuous that any baseball fan would be immediately turned off by the script." When asked how to remedy this situation, Uecker said "I will re-write all the baseball lingo" and the result is history! What a fantastic movie, but the movie should have showed what happened to the Indians in the World Series. Just my two cents...
