Depends on how they’re paid. Many dealers have gone to flat fee commission. In places like that the salesman actually is your friend. They want to get you a car and they don’t particularly care how much profit is made because they aren’t paid off of a percentage. In places like that your battling the sales manager on price, the salesman is just there to find you the car that fits your budget and needs.
@i_onlyspit_facts5856

@@mattorey5816 this is true, but not always the case. I work at a strictly comission dealership and I am genuinely on the customer's side. @@i_onlyspit_facts5856 sure, there’s plenty of decent people in this industry. @jwanders10

Usually people go to buy here pay heres when they don’t have the credit to qualify for an auto loan from the bank. Hence why financing through a bank is not an option and is not brought up. It’s a completely different target market than what you are describing. For example, a boxing equipment salesman would not inform his boxing customers that they also can purchase ballerina outfits from him as well. That salesman very well could actually carry both types of products, but he would not try to sell the wrong products to the wrong market.

Lmaoo facts, ima give y’all a tip. Say no to “security products” say no to “nitrogen on you’re tires” get a finance through your bank if you have good credit you’ll get some shit like a 3% for APR, but don’t let them know this. Just go in there talk them down and then start hitting them with all that. You’ll find yallselves with like a 2000 discount by the end of the transaction.

This is how they got some of my buddies straight out of basic. They get reeled in with a $500 down payment on current year Dodge Charger or Mustang but that monthly and interest rate left hooks damn near the whole paycheck.

Back when I was younger, I went to a dealer and before I went for a test drive, I gave them my keys to my truck so they can “check it out”. Took the used car out for a test drive and I noticed the seatbelts were cut, the car made all kinds of noises and the guy said, hey minor inconveniences, it’s used car, not new one, you have to expect some issues, wtf🤦♂️

Always remember y’all, avoid people that have amazing careers In sales. Basically they make money off being pathological liars.

Well thats not at all true. My dad has had an amazing career in sales. But you do that buy guiding the customer towards what they want and what fits thier needs. Not what's going to get you the most profit margin. If they have a good experience they come back to you. So you're always gaining customers because you don't lose your new ones after the first time you rip them off. You also stay consistently available so they know if they go on a certain day and time you'll be there to help them.

@@vespaman101 so because just your dads situation doesn’t match what I’m saying that makes it not at all true? Interesting. Small sample size to make that type of Conclusion. I can tell you from the life experiences I’ve witnessed your dad is an anomaly.

@@LetMeEatDem I can tell you from life experience. As someone who has worked in sales in retail and also through purchasing auctions and reselling he's not. You've come across numerous ethical sales people in your life you only remember the people that fuck you over. So many people work in sales. So its a little ridiculous to assert they're a bunch of pathological liars and that people should avoid avoid. That's in the upper echelon of poor advice.

@@LetMeEatDem you generalize all sales people. They're not all liars, bro. Just because you were dumb enough to get hoodwinked by 3 people in your life don't mean every sales person on earth are all bad. You probably think all preachers are only in it for the money too. #Gullible

Man, I remember my very first time buying a vehicle. I went to a Buy Here, Pay Here, no credit history and only 1k to put down. I got a little 2003 Chevy S10. Truck was really only worth about 4 or 5 grand, but after all of the interest and fees, the overall price was $13,000. I thought I was good because I was only paying like $300 a month. Then wasn’t ‘til later that I realized I was an absolute fool and made the biggest purchase mistake of my life.
