If you're a bit stuck for ideas when planting a new space start by listing the plants that would grow well in the space. You can seek inspiration from your local area or botanical gardens. What's the proportion of ground covering plants? what are their names? How do they use foliage and structure to make it interesting for more of the year?
Once you've got some ideas then have a go. You don't have to get it right first time. It can be a life's work if you want it to be.
I didn't mention it in this video but if this is your own garden you can grow from seed or cuttings too. You can take divisions of plants from your friends and being friends with other gardeners is brilliant for this! I've given away so many things I've grown from seed, seeds I've collected as well as root divisions.
