Played WoW since 2007. Taken breaks and played other games. But WoW has been the constant. I started playing WoW as a 10 year old that was interested in Fantasy and Medieval themes, played through my teenage years enjoying the Theory Crafting of the game and raiding at a high level. Now in my 20's Married still raiding but a lot more casual and playing with my guild mates. World of Warcraft has always been a lifestyle game. That's why it has retained people for 14 Years. But I think there is something to be said about the MMO genre's ability to bring people together and form bonds and kinship that lasts for years.

The reason I kept going back to Skyrim is because I really like to role play, I would play the game over with different characters and I’d give each character a different personality and I’d basically become more immersed in how my character reacted to something than the gameplay. Long story short Skyrim basically became d&d for me.

Have played Skyrim since launch, Oblivion til Skyrim and of course Morrowind til Oblivion. It's simple, when you like a game alot you play it alot. Escape the real world, sure. Addicted, probably. But for me, it's just fun to play a Wood Elf no kill thief. His name is Ditch and he's been through adventures that surpass understanding. It's awesome.

I loved Oblivion and modded it to hell, but even after playing Skyrim since launch, same as yourself, the only Elder Scroll game I've picked up and played in the past six years is Morrowind. There's just something about its pacing that pulls me back. Someday, maybe, I'll finally finish scratch-building my full Vvardenfell pattern glass armor...

Everquest 2. I was a textbook MMO addict from 2006 to 2012. Character 1: 238 days 19 hours (5731 hours) Character 2: 87 days 13 hours (2101 hours) Character 3: 77 days 7 hours (1855 hours) Character 4: 18 days 22 hours (454 hours) Minor characters: about a month, all told. (720 hours) Total time in-game: about 452 days 13 hours (10,861 hours) I played the game shortly after launch, enjoyed it but didn't do much real "multiplayer" content. As such, I kind of lost interest after a few weeks and eventually cancelled my account. Then... they introduced PvP. Kingdom of Sky was, I think, the second major expansion for the game. As well as new zones and story content, it brought with it a serious update in the form of faction-based PvP in open world areas. When it was announced, I decided to give it a whirl, so I resubbed and rolled a swashbuckler (good-aligned rogue class). I got steamrolled again and again, primarily because I didn't treat the game any differently from PvE. Then I met up with some people on my faction who were, frankly, very very good. As in, people who the other faction would consider a particularly dangerous player to come across. Once I started grouping with them, and learning how they played the game, it became enthralling. All the telltale signs, all the tricks, all the things that you could do to disrupt the opponents... all the stuff I'd been on the receiving end of that had made me rage. This might have given me hundreds or thousands of hours of entertainment but I'd most likely have quit once the game's population started to wane after it became clear to everyone that EQ2 wasn't the competitor to WoW that it wanted to be. However, at some point i'd got into the idea of raiding. When you're friends with some people who have good reputations in-game, you get invited to stuff you had previously thought you'd never get involved in. Raids just seemed too hardcore, too time intensive, too much like work for a filthy casual like me. However, I was invited to help out my faction's largest raiding guild with some raids, and before long the promise of loot hooked me. Before too long I'd rolled alts to in order to fulfil needed roles within certain raids, which in turn resulted in me learning how to PvP with my new raid-equipped characters. I'd work in my RL job from 9 til 6, then I'd rush home and work in my raiding guild from 7 til after midnight. Days off meant I could spend a full day in-game; expansion pack launches meant pulling all-nighters to make sure I wasn't left behind on the latest content. After the EU server merged with a US one, that merely extended my potential playtime by an extra 8 hours; it wasn't uncommon for me to fall asleep at the keyboard. Meanwhile, IRL... I met a girl. Things started well, but I started arranging dates around raids. Sometimes this meant compromises, sometimes it caused problems. When it came time to choose, I chose the game. Career opportunities came and went. I didn't want to do anything to jeopardise my game time. A close relative died. I spent the grieving process in EQ2. My family worried. I tried to wean myself off EQ2 by calling sick on raids, or turning up late; in reality, this just meant the time I'd have spent raiding was spent PvPing instead. In the end, it was cold turkey that did it; in 2012 I relapsed after a year away from the game, and I spent the whole of the London Olympics and Euro 2012 season indoors, playing The Game. I vividly remember talking enthusiastically about the game to my roommate's really cute friend, and the look of pity she gave me before delicately trying to extricate herself from the conversation. Since that day I've logged in just once, just to see how many of my old guildmates were still playing. The number was small, but notable. Some of them might still be playing now. These days I struggle to commit to any PC game long enough to delve much beneath the surface, and I have mobile games to scratch the MMO-like addictive itch. I don't think there'll ever be an experience like EQ2 for me again; in a lot of ways, I hope there isn't. I'm not unrepentant. If I had my time again, I'd never have bought the game in the first place.

It takes about 40-50 hours for me to beat an average Pokémon game. I don't feel as though I've _truly_ beaten it until I've sunk at least 100 hours into it. That being said, I don't feel like I've experienced _everything_ the Pokémon game has to offer until I hit 300 hours.

I always come back to Skyrim, no matter what new game comes out I can't help but eventually go back to Skyrim. I always talk about how I'm eventually going to move on, but I never do. I constantly look at new games and wonder "Will this be my replacement for skyrim?". I tried to replace it with a bunch of different games and not even fallout 4 could do it. I am hopelessly in love with Skyrim, the sense of other worldly adventure makes me come back again and again. I mod it till it dies and then I revive it just to kill it again. I hope that when starfield comes out that I will finally find the game the will replace skyrim, but I still can't move on. Skyrim is almost in a sense apart of me. It is some that has shown me things and taught me things that the real world couldn't. I learned a lot about modding, pc building, how different files work, how to fix a ton of different script or any other file based problem, and many other things. Skyrim let's me be something that I will never be. Skyrim isn't perfect, but it is the most wonderful game I have ever played. It is my favorite game. It might always be my favorite game. Without Skyrim I wouldn't be who I am today. Every mod, every Skyrim Machinima I watched, every kick boxing banana and gamer poop, and every minute I have played has led to me being me. You may call me addicted, but I'm just passionate. Playing a game you love isn't addiction, it's like being around your loved ones. You always want to be around those who you love and a game is no different. All the memories make you smile, even the bad ones. You've seen it grow old and you still love it all the same. Games are like family, games make us as much as we make games.

I had nearly every meta Pokémon bred with perfect ivs with egg moves and trained to max EVs. The online battling system was SO fluid and if you wanted to play not so random people, you could easily find opponents and people made tournaments on Miiverse. So fun. c: Sun and UltraSun I probably have about 200-400 hours in. as most of the others. There online connectivity was nowhere near as good. :/

I have been a gamer since 1975. I have played a single game for years due to work demands. I didn’t want to learn a new game and I’m not looking for frustrating punishment. On the OG XBOX it was Star Wars Battlefront 2 - single player. I played it so much the stats were running into the next column. I would occasionally get a game play it and go back to Star Wars . When I got XBOX 360 , I played various games like Elder Scrolls to the end - once. Mass Effect 1-3 maybe 100 times. Finally, I settled on Halo Reach - single player. I have tried other games but it wasn’t keeping my attention with my tight schedule. Halo Reach has not only single player but a daily challenge and ranking feature. Playing only single player and challenges, I’m close to my the rank of General Grade 4. It’s a nice daily distraction and helps me focus. With controversy like unfinished games and loot boxes, I don’t see myself getting another console. Got a gaming pc, but don’t download much gaming on it. Got an iPad with only two games on it for mental focus. Nearing 60, I’m not too interested in what EA , 343, Bungie, or Bioware is dishing out. If I was ever addicted, that died with the arcade.

That’s a cool story, and I don’t mean it sarcastically. Funny thing is, I used to play a lot of WoW as a teenager, and nowadays I literally play that same version, not even the newer expansions. I find new stuff to do to this day, but it’s more about feeling within my comfort zone and it feels good to know a lot about a game.

About two years ago I had real friends, then I got a PS4. The PS4 changed my life mentally and socially, I lost all my real friends as I kept blowing them off, I became very socially awkward I played about 13-14 hours a day on weekends, summer break, winter break and when school came I played from the time I got home to the time I go to bed and I was doing that for about 2 years. Then my parents said i can only play 2 hours a day, I was completely devastated. Don’t get into the addiction it will ruin your life. I now have no friends I’m socially awkward and I’m losing my friends online and my life has gone to shit. I learned the hard way Thank you for reading

Back when I was 13 I played Dream of Mirror Online for 3 years everyday, I loved living in that world, everyone in the server knew each other and somedays I would do quests with friends or grind with them, and somedays I would just chill out and chat with my friends or do things in that world like going to the beach, I kinda miss those days because now theres tons of fun games comming out, and I'm an adult now so I have real world things I have to deal with. I barely have time to play games so I can only pick one game to play after work, but since its a hobby of mine to collect games, theres so much games I want and need to play still, and I just wish I found a game once again like Dream of Mirror that I can play for years. I played SWTOR for close to 6 years. The only reason I left is Bioware truly killed it for myself and the family that we built with the guild. The family broke up and we all split in our different directions after the 5 + years. It was really hard, because after having those friends for all those years, the same people that you would be with every night end up being gone within a month. It's truly heart breaking and you end up in a form of depression after that loss. You really lose a family and you have to cope with that loss. I'm trying to find that purpose again in a new game, but it's not the same and I don't think i'll ever have that ever again.

One series I enjoy that seems to have no ending to any of their games is the Disgaea series. In those games you can level up to 9,999 and then reset your level. You can level up your items and equipment. Your individual stats can go up to something like 1,000,000. You can level up skills and learn new ones from different weapons or even reset your character as a new class. There's a bunch of end game content (some of which is stupid difficult) and usually involves getting new unique characters to join your group. And naturally there is new game+ as well.

I've been playing the sims franchise since I was 7, because it's one of those open sandbox games where you have the freedom to do whatever you choose in it. It's a great way to feel better about life and gives a sense of comfort of knowing you aren't alone and that everyone living in this world (and in the sims world) have bad days. Mods and new dlc just brings me back when I get tired of playing more hardcore, linear games.

This comment is gonna be quite long so read if you want i dont mind. My parents strongly think i am addicted to playing on my xboxes (i have a One but I still play my 360 sometimes because some games arent backwards compatible). But i really dont think i am. You see, i have PPD, Paranoid Personality Disorder, and i often distrust or heavily worry about people, my girlfriend for example. When a really paranoid moment kicks in, i play games. And generally what game doesnt matter that much but i prefer to use the xbox rather than my phone or pc etc. This is because gaming is my escape. When i get a game, i always put myself in particular characters views. What they are hearing, seeing etc. Call me weird, to be honest i dont particularly care. But anyway; by doing this i enter a new reality. I generally prefer to play first person shooters because its in first person and so it is a lot easier to put myself in their shoes, but also because i like shooting things 😁. So i play things like Halo, CoD, Fallout, Rainbow 6 and the list goes on. By entering another reality and living a different life means i can essentially escape actual reality to the best of my ability. I can escape whatever is bugging me, getting me down or whatever it is; I avoid it because it doesnt exist anymore. Obviously, playing games with my friends is always fun and we have a good laugh, but sometimes, me being alone in my loft (thats where my xboxes are, it was converted to a game room a few years ago) talking to myself as an imaginary character in an imaginary world with imaginary people and imaginary stories are just as real as playing with my friends. One of the worst parts about doing this is when i get caught when im "in the zone". It can be embarrassing as they just judge me cos im a strange 14 year old ginger kid talking to himself in the loft for ages. The absolute worst part of this is having to leave the game(s). I have to leave this reality and come back into the one i was trying to avoid. But thats life and i have to go along with it. Jeez, if you got to this part of the comment i congratulate you. Im surprised you didnt get bored of my story; i really hope no one calls it out for being a cry for attention or crap like that. Its not its just a story i thought to share. I swear. Thanks for reading. Whatever you do, do not go on my channel, that is unless you want to cringe. To be honest im not really bothered but oh well, thanks again. 👋 Ps: to answer the question in the video, the game i would play forever is either Fallout 4 or Dragon Quest IX on the DS. Both are some of my favourite games, and both near endless things to do.

just do you, for me although i like games I want to experience as many things as possible whether it'd be in the virtual world or the real world because you only live once.

I understand where you're coming from I have really bad anxiety and used to do something similar. I played LoZ most of the time to stop feeling anxious or to help myself get distracted when I was about to get panic attacks. It helped a lot but don't let real life get mixed up with your in game immersion.

Thanks for sharing your story with us dude! You'll be fine, just don't let it take control and remember that it's a game. It'll never be reality

Dragon Sorcerer If it helps you manage your condition and doesn't harm your life I'd say that's a healthy use of games, although I'd hope you seek a therapist but I understand your hesitation to do so on account of the paranoia. Good luck.

Probably Destiny and D2. I know it’s not the best game, but I have a lot of fun with it. Especially when I I am with some of my best friends

Agreed! The Destiny franchise has its pros and cons in all honestly, like everything else. Besides Bungie and Activision making horrible decisions at times (you probably know what I'm referring to,*cough* Eververse, shader system, story telling *cough*), it's a solid game. Even though it gets repetitive at times I still haven't been able to put the game down since the Destiny 1 Beta in the summer of 2014. That's gotta mean something... right?

And that's what matters! Don't be like the majority who only judge games by others opinions and not their own, play what you enjoy no matter what others say.

I keep coming back to Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. I don't even play other rts games. I just love playing this, it's comfortable but can be intense depending on how you feel.

Can confirm still playing Skyrim. It's like my fantasy life "simulator".
