Thanks. My only debt left is from prior vehicles (one being mine, one being a co-sign for my mom). My current car though is highly unreliable and while I own it, it's the epitome of a sunk-cost fallacy with how much money I've spent repairing things. I've finally reached a point in my career that I can cover a higher car note, and so while my credit is crap, I can at least give a good down payment to show I can now pay a car off. I walked into a dealer wearing sweat pants and a hoodie. Wanted to test drive and possibly buy a fully loaded GMC Sierra pickup(around $40k at the time). I got treated like a criminal till they ran my credit. I was royalty after that, honestly I'm still kinda salty about it LMAO!

It's eerie how this almost exactly how my visit with my car salesmen went after he saw my credit score. He even offered to let me drive a 40k pickup home for the night and come back the next day when I told him I wanted to think about it. Actually for that matter, it was starting to feel like he wouldn't let me leave until I said yes. That was the hardest time I have ever had with saying no and not because I didn't want to say no.

Notice how he said “you had a score of 840 before you walked in here” alluding to the fact that they most likely ran his credit by every lender, most likely resulting in a drop of 100 pointS. LMAO

I have been driving a camaro ss (2012) for the last 6 years. I got screwed on a 7 year lease *72 months* because I was young and stupid. Anyways this was the last year of payments owed on it. It ended up being totaled out from flood damage because there is a valve in the sunroof that wasn't set properly and rain water had been draining into my trunk well where the battery is located under the upholstery. Eventually everything electrical was corroded and needed to be replaced. Car value was 18,750 dollars. I owed 5180. Subtract the remaining balance and my insurance company paid me a check worth 12570 because 5180 plus my 1000 deductible I got the rest back. I walked onto the lot with a down-payment of 12 grand. Which I proceeded to use on a 2019 Mustang GT with 13k miles for 38k. 6% interest and payments of $310 per month

Not a great accomplishment my dude. A smart man would have bought a used Toyota and put the rest of the money towards investments... Now youre still in debt. 6% interest is garbage.

I drive a Kia SUV instead of the Jeep / Volvo I wanted because I was treated poorly at dealerships and Decided to not do business with them. The Kia people were extremely friendly and treated me with first class service as soon as I walked in the building. 🤷🏽♀️ Once they ran my credit he started asking had I shopped around 😂

With an 815 credit score I didnt get treated like that. I just bought a new 4runner and shopped around doing so. I always said I wanted to finance the whole car, even though I was going to pay mostly cash. I got ignored by several dealerships but soon as I pulled out a 30k cash suddenly I had the best deal on earth.
