I'm from this area and this case sticks in my head for 3 reasons; I remember being sickened by him trying to say kinky sex was the cause as if he'd be completely exonerated (IMO he wanted to explain his sexualassault of her, as well as make the family uncomfortable), the fact that the victim and I were the same age (she's march of '92, I'm May of '92) and the awful experiences I've had dating since living in Tarrant County. Now I'm not saying it's not hard elsewhere, but I spent my earlier dating years living in a small rural town and it seems like dating in the metroplex is a whole new animal that I have yet to understand, let alone master. So it gave me that extra grit to listen when my gut when seeing if I may hit it off with someone. The apps are bad, and meeting organically, aka in person, isn't much better. It's scary out here, and being disabled puts a lot of unique obstacles in the way. This poor girl did everything right once she got away. She pressed charges, she got a restraining order, and she stuck to enforcing it. Still, this nut job got to her, and now she's gone. There's a good reason I own a firearm, and despite it feeling like a failure that I'm not on my own (in this economy, idk how anyone's doing it without help) I'm so glad I live with my family still. My father is a USMC vet, and I feel markedly more secure than I would with roommates or just on my own. I've had guys show up uninvited before and been so happy to be able to let dad handle it once it was clear they weren't listening to me saying I didn't want to see them. I'm very lucky to have parents that allow me the privacy of dating and trying to not be a big presence while I have someone over but I'm even luckier that I have my dad there to intimidate those guys that are....less than stable and don't like rejection. Stay safe out there, y'all. That goes for everyone, not just the ladies like myself! Take care of yourselves & don't let anyone treat you badly. A good rule of mine is, "Would you interject if this was happening to your best friend/siblings?". If you wouldn't be okay with it happening to someone else, especially to a person you cared about, then don't allow it to happen to you. We deserve to be cared for but never at the expense of another person's mental and physical well-being. Okay, I'm done. If anyone is still reading, sorry about the rant... here's the reward-potato. 🥔🫶

I really appreciate the way you approach and share these cases. I like to watch crime shows, as I'm interested in forensics and detective work. But some of those shows come across as voyeuristic and entertainment at the expense of victims. I don't think that's healthy at all. You are respectful, and you don't glamorize evil. Well done, and thank you.

What kills me here is that with his looks, confidence and bad boy history (some people are attracted to that, which is wrong on so many levels), he could easily get another woman rather than obsess over 'the one that got away'. Narcissists can't handle not being in control or getting attention and validation. Ignoring them makes them persistent until they get what they want.
