@midnight347
4 жыл бұрын
@@Super6-Four I'm well aware what a crate engine costs. You said 3 times more that would be over 15 grand. Even with a crate and brand new control pack if you know what you're doing and dont throw money away on stuff you dont need theres no way the swap is gonna come anywhere near 15k. Now you're adding suspension costs and stuff to the "engine swap" totals? I know you need suspension too that is true with any car you add power to including ls swaps and others. What were talking about here is the cost to get a coyote engine into your new edge and get it tuned and up and running properly. You shouldn't even sniff 15k to do the swap if you have any knowledge at all about what to get and where to get it. You might get up over 10k if you start with a crate engine and pay a shop to do it for ya, sure. I just dont see it being anywhere near triple the price he quoted regardless of the route you take.

For anyone who wants to know for a v6 all you need to do is swap over the transmission from a gt or build your t5 to handle more power.... also need to swap the rear end... really your looking at like 8k and that’s light imo

On the black new edge I’m curious to know what transmission y’all put in that car. You mentioned what could work just curious what one you put in that car.

Can you swap a coyote in a new edge with an auto transmission?
@midnight347
4 жыл бұрын
With an auto you would also need a trans to...like a 6r80 for example. You cant simply bolt it up to the original trans like you can with the manual that is what he meant. I believe they make the control pack and stuff for autos now I'm not sure.

Finally, a reasonable analysis of how to do it without all the unnecessary ego related stuff. Like Joe Friday used to say “just the facts, just the facts”. Good job, stayed with the program and this actually helped me make a decision of which way to go.

Can you swap the 94/95 5.0 pushrod mustangs though? I thought of it since mines a 5.0 already would be sweet homage to it

Lincoln Ls Ahead of it's time. The Lincoln LS and last generation t-bird uses the DEW98 platform, which is shared with the Jaguar s type. Don’t get me wrong, it was an incredible platform for its time period, being developed in the mid 90’s with a perfect weight balance. But it’s NOT the same platform as the 15^ mustangs use, which is the s550 platform. Ford hasn’t used the DEW98 platform since 2006. And jaguar hasn’t used it in 6 year. Point being, that your car(which I really like and have owned), has nothing to do with a 15^ mustang(which I currently own a 2019 GT). Absolutely nothing about them interchanges and they were developed by two different generations of engineers.

*2002-2005, and even high mileage ones don’t come cheap as they’re double or triple the price of an SN-95. I just bought an 11th gen T-bird this past February and there’s a near nonexistent aftermarket community for parts. Your best bet is to stick to the Jaguar engines used in the DEW98 platform but supposedly it’s a nightmare getting the electronics to line up with the car.

The only thing that keeps me away from this swap is that the 2v sounds sooooo much better than a coyote. I may just get another new edge and swap that one and continue to daily my current one.

I have a completely stock 03 2v motor with a kenny bell supercharger that is turned all the down making 455 WHP and is capable of 650-700 WHP with a built mmr motor lol point is the 2v is capable of making plenty of power for street application !!!
