Yes and no. Again The current nation of China and the natonal Identity of "Chinese" is a modern invention. Before modern China many times throughout history the region we call now China today was split into multiple nations, Kingdoms, and empires. With each ethnic groups taking a turn in being the ruler. Such examples are the nation of Xi Xia, the Jin empire, the Song empire, Yuan dynasty, the Kingdom of Wei. The last time the entirety of "China" was ruled by a non Han Chinese government was the Qing Dynasty which lasted from the late 1640s till 1912

For instance in Manchuria, the native ethnic Manchu language is on the verge of extinction with only 19 native fluent speakers left in the world despite the fact that the ethnic Manchus number over 2 million.The Han Chinese majority openly encourages abandonment of non Han culture and is succeeding in killing off what little is left.

@Micky Z that was 800 years ago! Quit using the modern Chinese nationality and identity to justify events nearly a millennia past. You cannot claim China was invaded when there wasn't a united China there people there didn't call themselves Chinese or speak a singular language. Instead at the time of the Mongols there were but 3 separate Kingdoms. Xi Xia in the West, the Jin in the East and The Song in the South. All of these kingdoms were guilty of attacking and killing eachother. In fact the Jin openly refused to come to aid of Xi Xia even saying that it's to the benefit of us when our enemies kill eachother.

Hello, I'm a student in South Korea. I have an issue to report. Have you heard about a hot social debate emerging in South Korea, called ‘China Gate’? There are many Koreans who suspect that there are tremendous numbers of ‘Korean-Chinese’ trying to tear up public opinion backed up by Chinese Communist Party and their followers in Korea. Things are going crazy. Those Korean-Chinese has been supporting our worst ever President "Moon Jae-in" who favors China over Korea. Therefore, many Koreans doubt "Moon Jae-in" is deeply connected with Chinese Communist Party. We Koreans have found these evidence to support our suspicion: China has already prohibited Korean tourists who visit China, but South Korean government is dead set against prohibiting Chinese tourism. It is extremely weird to Korean citizens since China is the root of COVID19 and at the same time the most infected country. There is no profit to Korean citizens doing so; there are mass infections going on and citizens are dying. Ministry of Health and Welfare of South Korea has said: "People who carried COVID19 are Korean who came from China, not Chinese" With this statement, Korean citizens are perfectly betrayed by the President and his cabinet. And for sure, it is not true at all according to medical association. Our citizens also don’t say such a thing; only Chinese would talk like that. There was a big fan of President Moon named "Kim-Gyo-Kul(김겨쿨)". He had been fabricating a lot of ‘most-viewed’ comments fanatically supporting President Moon. We Koreans have found out that he was Chinese. One Korean managed to hook him with the link dongtaiwang.com Chinese people avoid this site because it contains a lot of content about freeing China from the communist party and pursuing Chinese democracy. Chinese people get punished just by clicking that site. Of course, it is perfectly safe for South Koreans. "Kim-Gyo-Kul", who had been hook by the link, showed an extreme reaction. He removed all of his internet records and his account. It is the most impressive case that ignited the "China Gate" issue. In addition, a lot of case’s are shown in most of the Korean internet communities, that Chinese with fluent Korean language has been disguising as Korean left a lot of hate speeches to tear apart public opinions, and a lot of speeches praising China, praising President Moon. When the whole truth is disclosed, the whole nation will panic. This is called "China Gate" Please report this issue, because this is a very serious matter for our country. I assume Chinese espionage is also an issue in your country. We Koreans see our country as China-Infected country. It kills our people with the Virus, and It suffocates our communities. Please report this issue to the World. Chinese espionage issues must resound throughout the world. Please let people know what happens in South Korea. "Espionage and foreign interference is insidious. Its effects might not present for decades and by that time it's too late. You wake up one day and find decisions made in our country that are not in the interests of our country." This is to us, South Korea. Please help us!

It's a fucking disgrace that China controls ANY part of Mongolia. Can anyone explain to me why China controls ANY part of Mongolian territory? Inner Mongolia rightfully belongs to Mongolia. Even though I think that Tibet should rightfully be an independent country, at least China can say that the Tibetan language is a part of the Sino-Tibetan language family and that's why Tibet should be a part of China, but the Mongolian language doesn't even belong to the Sino-Tibetan language family, so what type of historical rights does China think it has over Inner Mongolia? China took Inner Mongolia as its territory most likely because it is STILL butthurt about getting its ass kicked by the Mongol Empire. 😆
@Rishi123456789

@Xi Jinping: "Also modern Mongolia only exists because China let it." I don't know whether that's true or not, but Mongolia does not belong to the Han Chinese people - Mongolia belongs to the Mongolian people. Mongolia will be reunified someday.
@Rishi123456789
4 жыл бұрын
@Xi Jinping: "also the Han Chinese population in Inner Mongolia is about three times as large as the mongol population." The Han Chinese are trying to assimilate the culturally and linguistically distinct Mongolian people and are deliberately trying to outnumber the native Mongolian people in their own homeland. The Han Chinese people are trying to Sinicise Inner Mongolia against the will of the native Mongolian people. That is forced cultural assimilation by definition and I am against that. "Why would you rip these poor Han from their country just because their province has ‘Mongolia’ in the name." Because it's a historically Mongolian territory, that's why it's above the Great Wall of China. That's like saying that if Han Chinese people came in to Armenia (for example), outnumbered the native Armenian people, forced the native Armenian people to become Sinicised and then called Armenia a province of China that it becomes morally acceptable to do such a thing. It is never morally acceptable to do such a thing. Mongolia (including Inner Mongolia) rightfully belongs only to Mongolians, Han Chinese people can live in Mongolia as guests but Mongolia should be governed only by the native Mongolian people themselves, because the right to self-determination is a fundamental human right.

You know, Qing(Manchu) conquered China(Ming) then Mongolia, Xingjian and Tibet joined or surrendered to Qing. After Republic of China overthrowed Qing government, the Chinese claimed they're part of China and cannot be independent. So if Japan conquered entire China in WW2, one day the government were overthrowed, Chinese will claim that all the territory that conquered by the Empire of Japan is part of China. Right? Japanese should be glad that they lost.
@calisthenicsnoob9990

you need to understand what made the succession of dynasties part of the same civilization, China is not Ming, Han is Ming. "China" was coined by manchus during the Qing. All dynasties that were not Han rulers (Yuan and Qing) all adopted the Han language, tradition and form of government. Thus for a lack of better term they are all considered Chinese. In mandarin the term that represents the entirety of modern china is called 中华名族, there is no concept of this in English. If Japan did take over China and also adopted the Han language, culture etc. then they would be a succession of chinese history. you do see the difference right? this is why china is a continuous civilization, if say during the Yuan dynasty they called themselves say the country mongolia 2 and made everyone speak mongolian and adopt the monoglian culture then the chinese history would have ended right there, but the opposite happened! If the British adopted the native american's culture and form of government and their language, wouldn't they be a continuation of native american history??
@kekeke8988

If Japan won, Japan would have ceased to exist like Manchu, or be relegated like Mongols at best eventually. @Calis By your logic, the Eastern Roman Empire was Greek empire instead (originally Rulers spoke the Roman tongue, Latin, but most people spoke Greek, eventually even the rulers. Culture was largely Greek, even in Rome itself in the first place.)
@WLRika

I think so called "China is a continuous civilization" is base on its writing system. Chinese characters have meanings, they don't need to know how to pronounce it but they can still read things written thousands of years ago without a problem. Many neighbor countries have adopted the writing system before, such as Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Okinawa and Manchu. There was never such thing of succession of dynasties, just conquer and be conquered.

But indeed, only a few. I think many Mongol choose by themselves to study Chinese for a better life because they live in China. I don’t feel even a little seperation of Mongol and Han nationality until university enrolment examination. I hadn’t realized half of my classmates and friends are Mongol. We are totally live in no difference. During that important exam, the Mongol can add 10 scores. That is a big score that can beat dozen of thousands of students, which made me ( I am Han) very jealous about the policy for Mongol. Probably because we were young, I never feel or heard the Mongol classmates were unhappy. That’s my true experience.

Let’s not get this twisted. The Mongols and Manchus invaded China and then assimilated into Chinese bureaucracy and Chinese culture. What language did their descendants speak? Chinese. One can even argue that the Qin dynasty that was the first to unify the China kingdom in 220 BC were outsiders. Tang Dynasty included many Turks, Xiongnu, and other ethnicities in the very top hierarchy. The guest speaker in this video presents history from a perspective of racial purity. That is not how the real world works. If that is the case, Europe needs to return land to Catalonians and Moors, and Australia, Canada and California need to return land to the indigenous people. I’m one who is quite critical of the CCP, but history would have turned out this way whether the CCP was in power or not. Chiang Kai-Shek and the KMT wanted to recover all of Mongolia. If not for the CCP, Mongolia might be like Xinjiang and Tibet today. Using the guest speaker’s logic, the real America consists only of the 13 colonies. California and Hawaii were never part of America. lol half way through. Using his logic, America still belongs to Great Britain. We’re Anglo Saxons who speak English, right? No problems understanding each other lol. Within China itself there are hundreds of different local dialects, especially in the south, from Guangdong to Fujian to Zhejiang to Shanghai. I guess they should each have their own nations as well! After all, they were annexed in history by the Northerners! The guest speaker has the audacity to claim racial segregation. Mongols slaughtered and butchered the most people in human history, and it’s racist to build a wall to defend against that? The entire Eastern Europe is so backward today because for many hundreds of years all the Mongols did in Eastern Europe was predatory pillaging and warded off the east from western Europe. When the Mongols conquered China, they actually set a policy of racial segregation via a caste system that had Mongols at the top, second were Kazakhs, Uighurs and Xiongnu, third were northern Han Chinese, and lowest in the caste were Southern Chinese.

grapplerke I mostly agree with what you say, except: (1) The relationship between Southeastern Sinic languages and Mandarin is NOT that of “dialects.” That’s like saying English, Portuguese, German, Gaelic, Polish, Greek, and Lithuanian are all “dialects” of one another--just because they’re all derived from a common lingual ancestor a few thousand years ago (2) for different groups to speak (have gradually developed) a completely different language, is essentially to say (or proves that) these different groups have been functioning as mostly mutually independent civilizations for many hundreds or even thousands of years--otherwise they would need a common language to communicate with one another. That being said, places like Hainan, Leizhou, Guangfu, Kejia, Chaoshan, Longyan, Quanzhang, Puxian, Fuzhou, Ningde, Wenzhou, Taihu, Huizhou, etc SHOULD have their own independent nations - just like Catalonia, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Occitan should have (or have had - past tense) their own nation. When forced integration occurs, languages die & culture is lost. (3) As a European immigrant from New Jersey, I’d be 100% in favor in sectioning off a certain large part of the land and giving it to Lenape natives to develop. I’d be 100% in favor of forcing all NJ residents to learn their language (Unami is actually very well documented, and therefore very possibly to learn to fluency). Based on my value system, this is basic human decency and justice (4) Anglo-saxon is just an ethnic group. Most people who speak English aren’t Anglo-saxon, although it is indeed (obviously) their language

習禁評-小熊維尼Finnegan I totally agree on you on language. I was going on a quick rant and didn’t expound on that topic as it wasn’t the focus. I disagree on #3. Had Indonesia and Brazil used that standard, there would be thousands of different nations between the two countries.

Exactly. Mongols raped and pillaged entire villages and some of their descendents still live in Eastern Europe. A significant part of the world population is still genetically related to the Genghis Khan because of the rapes. It's clear that the Great Wall was an act of self-defense, not of segregation. Lithuania as a nation fought and overcame communism, but in the middle ages we actually had to fight back against Mongolians (!).

I Appreciate this clarification of history about Mongolia. My own thought was that Mongolia was separated into "Inner and Outer" because both the Soviets and the CCP were afraid of a united Mongolia. But the ethnicity issue inherent in CCP ideology becomes clear in this interview. What the "Great Wall" of China truly separated was never taught as an ethnic separation- it was delineated as an effort not to be modernized. This interview should be shared far and wide. There are clear historic grounds for the CCP empire to be divided into many independent republics. Personally I find the variety of human cultures to be invigorating and enjoyable.

Take back southern mongol but dont go full Chinggis khan and take the whole continent. If there ever is a skirmish with China, all these countries need to do their part and strike at the same time. I am a Mongolian from Mongolia, and I wish one day we can take our southern brothers and sisters back and united as one great nation as we were. For the history of great identity confusion between Qing Empire and China, here is long history short: Qing Dynasty also known as Manchu people were tungusic/siberic nomads, and they were once subjects of the Mongol Empire, but over time they became more powerful while their overlord Mongols were decentralizing and fighting in between for the power. Also since the fall of Mongolian Yuan dynasty, the Mongols always tried to regain the control over the China, but as said above of their internal wars, they could not make it. So meanwhile of it, Manchu people were becoming more powerful. So in the late 16th century and early 17th century, the Manchus allied with some Mongols and invaded and eventually conquired Ming China, which was the long lasting goal of the Mongols. But Ligdan the last great Khan of the Mongols didn't like it, so the decentralized Mongols became more hostile to each other and some supported the Manchu people while others were against it. And over time, the Manchu became more of overlords than allies to the Mongols. So basically speaking, the Qing Empire was not China, but in fact someone who invaded and colonized China as well as Mongolia and other regions. So what China claiming as a continuity of the Qing Empire is utterly false and China is doing this only to claim their overlords territories.
