While I realize there are exceptions to what he's saying (such as: homes of people with severe medical conditions and specific locations like hospitals or senior assisted living residents), but I've learned a lot from what he shared. Thank you, again, for sharing, Melissa!

After SARS outbreak in Hong Kong, we were taught to clean with diluted bleach. Everyone is still scare about diseases rather than how toxic bleach is.

Thanks for this video! I never use Clorox anymore. I always use baking soda, vinegar and water. I don't like the smell of Clorox or other chemicals. I also appreciate the air freshener input. I don't like them they are overpowering and give me a head ache. Vinegar will absorb odors out of the air and on surfaces/fabrics and where needed. Thanks for the information! I have been on the right track especially since I have been watching your videos and researching some myself. :)

Thanks Melissa! Great video! Your diet causing hypersensitivity to allergens is something I need to look into :) I would like to point out though that just because you cant pronounce something or don't understand it doesn't automatically make it dangerous or hard for your body to process. Our bodily reactions don't correlate with our reading level. If you don't know what it is research it! Then after some research you can make an informed decision on if you should use it or not.

Interesting point: the dust/dirt in the house may not be the cause of the allergic reaction but it may be exacerbating internal problems. Makes sense for my own personal situation.

Hello! I was wondering what type of natural/diy cleaner do you suggest for cleaning raw chicken off counter tops? I do not allow bleach in my home due to migraines from the smell and I would love to transition to more natural cleaners because of my autoimmune issues. thanks so much!!

What is a good substitute for bleach? I use vinegar and water, or lemon juice and baking soda, but I still don't get the same results as bleach.

Ke Thomas,Tea Tree Oil (Meleluca) has been shown to kill even the MRSA virus. Organic farms use it as well. A little goes a long way, add a couple of drops to a 50/50 vinegar and water mix. Do some research on essential oils and their different uses, hope this helps.

Enjoyed the video! What I'd like to know is about plug in air fresheners and wax warmers... And if those are not good, what are alternatives to get the same scents, or are there diy plug ins we could make ourselves... Hmm

You can buy essential oil diffusers and use those.

You won't be able to get exactly the same scents, since those scents are chemically made. But you can find natural oil smells you like, or you could boil some clove buds and a cinnamon stick like my mom did. She would start a new batch every month or so, and just turn it on to simmer for a few minutes after cooking. The small pan always sat on our Steven when I was growing up.

the pregnant question: also have open windows while cleaning with your desired cleaning product. since your immune system is lower while pregnant it is beneficial to keep a clean home, especially during the nesting period :)

+Eclectic Alu Vinegar & Water with any essential oil (disinfecting oils are tea tree, lemon, peppermint, lime..and others) I use to only use bleach but started having really bad breathing problems from it. Vinegar works just as good as bleach

Thank you Allison, I make a combination of water, bleach and vinegar. And although it includes a bit of bleach, it's pretty powerful. I'll try to use it for cleaning outside areas mainly. Thanks for the essential oils recommendation! I do have peppermint and tea tree so I'll make another one for interiors using those! THANKS!!

I mix water, a few drops of liquid Castile soap, and germ fighting essential oils like lemon, clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary to make an all purpose germ fighting spray. My kids call it the green spray because I keep it in green bottles. I use baking side and vinegar in laundry for whitening, lemon juice and baking soda to scrub things that need a little lightening or brightening... I could go on all day!

I was scrolling through the comments and saw yours. I was trying to figure out why your name was so familiar. We're Instagram buddies! Anyway, I stopped using bleach in my house because I started having allergic reactions like skin irritation, wheezing, and headaches.

Most days I clean with water and a norwex or ecloth; otherwise, vinegar, baking soda and/or essential oils and other natural things. After going to natural cleaning products, makeup (if I wear any), skincare, etc, and cutting back on dairy, I feel a lot better than I used to, but I try not to go on a disinfecting rampage for the sake of my immune system. When I'm in public, though, my germaphobe tends to pop up lol
