@mangos2888
4 ай бұрын
@@yyxmi yes! The crown was also presented as an option, and I said 'let's go that route when we have to' and I've never had to. It could also be a skill issue with your dentist. Every dentist since then has commented that the 'composite doesn't look right' from the back of the tooth, but because it's in the back and hasn't caused a cavity or fallen off, I've never invested in fixing it. In hindsight, I believe the original dentist was pushing the crown because he knew he wasn't good at building the composite. It takes skill to create them well. So go for the composite, but go to a dentist who doesn't suggest the crown.

My issue with these veneers and bonding is people do the top front teeth when we see more of the bottom teeth when they talk. To me there is a disconnect between the perfect top teeth and the bottom being so crooked or a different shade from the top teeth. I know people can't afford to do all their teeth at once but I think maybe people should just whiten and clean up their original teeth, having big white teeth is not necessarily more attractive especially if it takes away from their own natural attractiveness. I don't mind if people dont have perfect teeth, it makes them look unique.

My parents made me get composite bonding done when I was 18, after my braces came off. I don’t recommend it to anyone. It’s bumpy and thick and doesn’t even make your teeth look better. I had natural white spots on mine and the composite really doesn’t even disguise them, you can still see them, just slightly less noticeable. Additionally, the composite chips off. I’ve had to have several repairs made in just the six years I’ve had them. I currently have a large chunk missing from my right front tooth, not the tooth itself, just the composite on top. I am choosing not to get it repaired because it will just come off again. Please do not waste your money on this. You will pay more to maintain them than you did to get them done. I’m totally not saying you should get veneers, either. I’m saying cosmetic dental procedures are not worth it. Don’t have anything done you don’t absolutely have to for your health (like having a cavity filled or a root canal).

I have a bit of composit bonding at the side and between my front two teeth. I had braces in my late teens, but due to my bite (deep bite) and the fact that I had smaller teeth, part of the correction involved pulling the teeth inward (think like an upside down flowers petals closing). Due to the short upper teeth, I also couldn't get a final wire (had a sort of invisiline retainer instead). But within a year after getting my braces off, even being diligent with my retainer, my upper teeth kicked out a bit, leaving some small gaps between a couple of teeth (about the thickness of a toothpic). My dentist suggested the bonding to craft a more even aesthetic and give a surface to abut the neighboring teeth. It's been about 10 years and I've only needed the bonding touched up once. I actually love that my smile is minimally enhanced because it still looks like me

I broke my fronth thoot while skiing it was in half and it was made full again with composite (because I was to young at the time for a crown) it has been over 6 years and it hasnt broken of ever since.

It has to do with how much surface area the composite has to hold onto. The more surface area, the better it can stay on.

I’ve had a porcelain veneer since 2015 due to having microdontia. They have lasted perfectly thus far and look extremely natural to match my other teeth. When getting Invisalign, the pegs popped off because I didn’t think to tell them they were veneers and need a different adhesive. when I went to have them put back on, the technician was surprised and couldn’t tell at all.

Geez her composite bonding did not look good imo cause her top teeth were too straight, perfect, chunky, and far whiter than her bottom teeth. It looks like she had one of those toy teeth mouth guards on.

When I chipped my front tooth rollerblading in the 90s my dentist put a composite on it because I was too scared to get a crown. I've had the same bond for over 15 years or more and I fear daily for that composite & having to find a dentist willing to recreate that reliable composite that's lasted over double its expected life span.

Except, composite filling can wear down. Mine did. Had to have a different material used. I swear that quack dentist use like temporary filling material on my teeth. They did look good, but they just started disintegrating. I had to keep going back over and over and getting them fixed.

This is what composite veneers are like. They don’t last long at all & discolour extremely easily. Not a good long term option.

I have these on three of my upper front teeth that I broke when I was 12 riding a bike in Colombia, and the dentist back then did an amazing job. It lasted beautifully up until a few years ago, it started to look like they needed to look replaced. I’m forty so yeah they held up very good. Sadly when I went to see a dentist here in the US where I live now he convinced me to do veneers and this has been one of the few regrets I have in life. 😢

When I get the chance to, I am having my dentist do it on all the teeth I have small chips on and I'm having him shave my damn fangs too while at it. Can't wait to eventually have a better smile using this method.

I would love composite bonding, she looks absolutely amazing. My top front teeth have shifted slightly since my braces were removed, the shift has caused some wear and tear at the bottoms and it looks awkward. I miss the horseshoe shape, so I think Invisalign and composite bonding will be the way to go for me. Screw getting veneers/crowns if it isn’t necessary 😬

I got composite for my front tooth! I saw some comments saying it lasted them decades, but i was told they only last 5-7 years by my dentist...is this true? I am curious!

Dude, mine has lasted 15 years now, they told me the same I got it to cover the gap in my front teeth but I am a smoker and a coffee drinker….so it’s another color to my teeth. If I whiten my teeth it does nothing to the composite, only downside. I use a mail file on the composite here and there to lighten up the stains on it the past few years and that has helped sooooo much. So just be aware of that

I need to explore this because I did 2 consults…my dds pushed Invisalign but the scan came back no noticeable difference. The 2 cosmetic dds consult told me 10 veneers which I was surprised that much. I just want my laterals to be sized more in line with my front teeth. I like the color already so maybe bonding. Thank you ❤

My mom had tiny adult teeth and had to get veeners, but they were done terribly wrong (gums bleeding even though she took care if her teeth) and when she went to another orthodontist he said she would need crowns, and she did. So the front section of the top row of her teeth is porcelain (i think XD)

I had to get composite bonding on one of my front teeth when I was around 10 years old. A metal see-saw hit me in my mouth and chipped it. How? I guess I was too close... lol. I'm 32 and haven't had to get it replaced yet. Point is, composite bonding can be a great opinion that lasts a long time if you take care of your teeth.

Composite bonding is not forever though, lifespan before it needs to be replaced is about 5 years. I have some on my teeth and it has chipped a few times. A better alternative to veneers but it can also take some of your natural teeth when it was breaks off. The color match is really important too cause it might not cover the entire surface of your tooth.

I had composites on my front teeth for 10 years and they never stained/looked bad until maybe year 9 but only slightly. I asked my dentist to remove them and put on new ones but he refused saying “it’s just a surface stain” he ground down the surface and left a gap between my tooth and the composite and I got two huge cavities on my front teeth 1 month later. For over a year I continued making appointments with him begging him to please fill the cavities and redo my composites. He kept claiming the now BROWN cavities were staining. Finally my last appointment with him he was obviously annoyed by me asking again so he goes I’ll drill off the stain and show you! And the assistant asked if he wanted the like smoothing tip thing and he said “no the football” and her eyes got all wide and she looked nervous. He drilled it, said “that’s better” and left the room immediately without showing me. I had a HUGE DIVET IN MY TOOTH. MY FRONT TOOTH WAS WAVY. HE TOOK OUT A CHUNK AND EXPOSED MORE OF THE CAVITY. I cried and the assistant said I should see another dentist. Got replacements eventually but the color match sucks and now it’s half my tooth instead of 1/4. So yea getting veneers.

I would get a new bridge or attached crowns with bridge not this stuff it doesn't last lets just say the more tooth structure the better luck you might have it has to have enough to hold on to then hopefully it doesn't fall out dentist that care will tell people this stuff

I regret getting porcelain veneers it’s ruined my life and I went to the best dentist in Scottsdale Arizona at a whopping 23,000 front and bottom It’s been 13 years and they are still holding up but I need to now get them redone and I have had nothing but problems since I got them. Weak failing teeth tooth loss, root canals, broken or chipped and also bad breath and I have good dental hygiene. Please anyone consider traditional veneers to please reconsider.
