Absolutely amazing, this is the only video on youtube that actually shows how it works and I want to thank you for that!

Thank you so much for making this informative video. I've worked in an auto parts store for the past 5 years and have often wondered how a slave cylinder works. Much love from Melbourne, Florida! :)

Thanks Troy, I have just ripped the clutch kit out of my 2001 Barina, what a missions that was. I was after a detailed explanation of hos the concentric slave cylinder works and you are bang on the money with this little informative video, thanks heaps mate.

How's so mate? What were your symptoms? My clutch has just gone soft and I'm suspecting it's the scs!

Thanks for uploading this Troy, I have a 2009 Manual Holden Colorado 4x4 model and only two days back I just had the Concentric Slave cylinder replaced as it was leaking hydraulic fluid I also elected to have a new clutch and pressure plate put in the vehicle, why?, because the gearbox has to come out anyway to service ( or my case replace ) the concentric slave cylinder. I did approximately 80000klms on the old clutch and pressure plate and it was still in reasonable shape when it was taken out The flywheel also had to be machined It also turned out that the clutch master cylinder was also stuffed ( but you could not tell by looking at it ) and also have to be replaced I kept the old concentric slave cylinder as a souvenir I am not convinced that this type of system is a good idea? I am used to having the slave cylinder on the outside of the gearbox with the fork actuating the thrust ( release bearing ) bearing when the clutch pedal is pushed down to change gears!

I had the fluid freeze one winter. They don't tell you brake fluid goes bad after 7 years!

Way better video than an animation of a theoretical model. Lovely, thanks!! So this is basically a hydraulically actuated clutch release bearing? How many cars (MT) have this type of release bearing instead of mechanical types?

Cheers bro, my clutch pedal don't rebound, the garage told me it was the concentric slave, what'd reckon is this true, or could it be something simpler, great video tho, helps me understand how these things work

This part has failed on my Chevrolet, what a nightmare to replace, the whole clutch has to come out. Why cant they just keep things simple and have the slave cylinder external to the bell housing 😢.

I'm getting a lot of clatter when I press the clutch slightly down to halfway, no noise when fully disengaged or when the clutch pedal is de-pressed .. My mechanic reckons it's slave cylinder but I'm now wondering if it's the clutch plate its self rattling against flywheel.. if it was the bearings in the CSC wouldn't make constant noise?... Especially if rev the car with the clutch slightly dipped the rattle is exaggerated.. It's a brand new clutch kit I fitted too.. wondering if I cocked summet up or if the CSC has prematurely failed 🤷.

P.s it's just started doing it too, not directly after replacement.

how likely is for a CSC to have a leak?

gonzagnr2 very likely as they have a O-ring inside that can fail
