When I started to watch videos in English and didn't understand half of the words, it was always a treat to have subtitles on an interesting video. It helped so much learning new words. Especially the mix of seing the word spelled out and hearing the pronunciation. It really helps in so many ways.

This is 100% accurate. When I worked at a restaurant in 2016-2018 they treated me like I was their younger niece. They would always cook dinner for me when I had a 16:00/21:30 shift and when someone was rude to me, they where ready to hit the one that was rude to me. I still kinda miss the job sometimes.

In my experience this depends on the kitchen. I've been the only female cook on the line and I often was the only one being nice to female servers (unless they came to the kitchen crying because of a shitty customer. I haven't ever worked in a kitchen that doesn't take a moment to shit talk horrible customers and find the cut edge of a sheet of cake to give to an upset server, no matter their gender).

The cooks at my old job were awesome! They later told me that because I was the only one who actually asked for things/adjustments politely, that's why my orders would come out quicker 😊 I do remember the other servers (no specific gender) would just yell out demands as if they were above them. Umm hello! The kitchen is a VERY crucial part of a restaurant--the heart of the house! Gotta give respect where it's due!

As someone who works/worked both sides I have definitely noticed I learned new people’s names a lot faster when I worked the line. When I’m front of house I’m kind of just in my own world and just looking at table numbers if I’m running food that isn’t mine.

Pro tip- Bring a blunt for BOH and be the one on door watch... Food will end up coming out before your table even orders. 🤜🤛 Binus tip- Slide your busser $20 before your shift starts and you'll always get seated.

Or did you mean in a timely fashion and done WELL (not "good") like you should be doing anyways? 2. Servers are paid under $3/hr, and bust their asses. You make minimum wage. Why clearing my tables when I've already cleared most the plates means you're entitled to my tips, I'll never know. Regardless, 3. I always tipped my bussers AFTER I was cut. I'm not paying in advance, who does? 😂 Suckers, that's who.

If someone slid me 5 dollars when I was still a busser, well that's barely anything. Especially since most servers don't prebus properly despite saying they do, but that might just be at the outback I work at.

I still miss my old IHOP days with my POS cook. Every time I walked back there it would be like entering the thunderdome. I had to be ready to catch toast, pancakes, and full orders that were being pushed out the window and if I failed to catch it, I got yelled at. Thats right, its my fault my cook is a pissy bitch who throws things out of the window. Sometimes chucking full plates at the wall. Shit was a blast. So much fun

I was a chef in a teppan-yaki restaurant and we would definitely give guy servers a hard time especially since they had to wear kimonos just like the women servers. It was years ago when men in feminine roles weren't taken seriously. Different times these days. I mean, I'm sure they'd still be given a hard time but in other ways.

I actually was in high school when I had that job and went to several classes with a girl he would regularly hit on. She talked about wanting to file complaints, but management was so absent at that place she didn’t think it would do anything.

😂but why is this so true. The kitchen staff was always so kind to me, and on busy nights I'd always wind up working cold expo or helping with hot expo so eventually they partially adopted me into their shenanigans. 10/10 cooks are terrifying while also being the sweetest/funiest people.
