For what it’s worth, there’s a FANTASTIC video called “Why Ending SECONDS Later Ruins everything (Arcane Finale)” by a channel named Schnee about why the end isn’t a cliffhanger in the traditional sense. This story was about who she was going to end up being, Jinx or Powder, and the season ends when she fully embraces her identity as Jinx.

Great reaction and analysis. There's so much resignation in Jinx at the end, after Silco dies. You can see it in her eyes, her expression, and her body language. She's given up; she's thinking that Mylo and Vi were right, all those years ago: She's a jinx. And if she's going to be a jinx, she's going to be the worst bad luck the city has ever experienced. No truce. No negotiations. No peace. Jinx will show them all. Let it all burn, and let chaos reign. War is coming...

Big pyoff for Vi's miniarc: The whole show people are telling her she is "blocking with her face" and she "never learned patience" showing how vis approach of headfirst into the fray is working only half the time and the other half getting her into serious trouble. In this Fight with the Sevika she ha one last Vision from Vander and soon after that _she actually blocks sevika._ That is when the forcefield activates, metaphorically rewarding her for finally listening and keeping her guard up. Though, it has to be said, the force field was probably always part of the Gauntlet. We see Jaxce use hisown forcefield in the fight last episode with his hammer, showing that it is something he seems to have built into hextech devices, and the Gauntlests are specifically meant for mining. I think the force field is a protection mechanism in case of a minecollaps and the Idea is that it is being activated by certain movements, like, for instance, taking yourhands over your head, to protect you from falling rocks, or a murderuos right hand woman of the local kingpin.

You appear to place a lot of blame on Jinx. But Jinx was the inevitable creation of decades of neglect for the Undercity by the council. They left the Undercity to rot, that leads to rebellion, that grows exponentially until tensions explode. That explosion is Jinx. And after essentially creating her, they demanded that she be the one to suffer for what is really the crimes of the council. The vocal overlay at the end of the first words that Silco said to Powder is telling of her thoughts... "We'll show them, we will show them all!" It wasn't an act of chaos. Jinx's rocket was her reply to the demand that Silco turn Jinx over to the council, essentially: "You made me, just to sacrifice me... You can all burn!"

A few details since you don't know much about league's lore: Mel's big painting represents Noxus Prime, the capital of Noxus. So having her mother says "be at my side, where you belong" with the paint in the background completely hiding Piltover is a very strong moment of visual storytelling. As a side note, the way I interpreted why Viktor is struggling with his leg again is not because it was temporary. We saw earlier that the Hexcore did something to him, and he immediately fell and held his knee. This seems to implies that the hexcore somehow understood that Viktor was turning his back on it, so it retaliated by taking back what it had given.

Next level hurt: Realizing that turning her into Jinx is the thing Jinx loves most about Vi, and what she hates about her sister is the fact that she kept her alive, continuing her trauma and pain. Extra credit: As far as Jinx is concerned, the sister who says she loves her doesn't even know her name.

A couple of quick comments: I don't believe Silco was one step ahead of Finn in that scene. Notice him panting after Sevika did her little swipe attack? Even he didn't know who she would choose. Now he hoped his 'loyalty' speech would work, but he wasn't certain. The fountain scene is really important as it shows us that Silco finally understands the predicament Vander was in. The cost of possibly losing a loved one is too high a price to pay, even for independence. This is where Vander faltered with Vi/family.. and why he gave up the fight. And Silco is in this same situation now. As for being sad about Silco's death. It does seem confusing at first... he's the 'bad guy'... we shouldn't be sad, right? But he's more of an antagonist than a real villain. His methods were terrible, but his goal was a noble one. And really when we think about it, real-life revolutions don't come without a high cost. He couldn't have been a nice revolutionary. He's an ends justify the means type of character, and in the end, he probably was right about most things. He only failed because he deviated from his own plan -- he wasn't ruthless enough. And of course we feel bad for Jinx, losing another parental figure, and by her own hands. We see the resignation in her eyes, her sadness... and we learn that Silco truly did love her, unconditionally, as she is. No need to change, 'You're perfect', not Powder or Jinx is perfect, You are. And I don't view the ending as a real cliffhanger. I mean, yes, we don't know the outcome, but knowing it wouldn't have brought closure anyway. The story of Jinx-Silco did reach a conclusion, as well as Jinx's character arc. Any other ending wouldn't have worked as well ... seeing who lived and died wouldn't have mattered.

So there are things almost every scene that are small details, but when you notice them you begin to know more and more about the characters. This is mainly due to the shows insistence of show, don't tell. An example from this episode. In the scene where Jayce saves Viktor, Viktor says to Jayce, "You have to destroy it." People generally accept that Jayce immediately understands that Viktor is talking about the Hexcore, but that is actually not the case. Viktor says this and Jayce immediately looks over his shoulder at his hammer and assumes Viktor is talking about the weapon he crafted. Jayce knows Viktor has always been against weapons created from Hextech so he understandably believes Viktor is preaching to him that his hammer needs to be destroyed. Jayce now knows the harm that weapons can cause and immediately agrees to destroy it. It is only after Viktor comes back with it being the Hexcore that needs destroyed we see Jayce looking confused by Viktor's statement and then proceeds to plead with Viktor that it is needed to save him. There is another very good one in the very next scene if anyone is interested in hearing more things you notice after watching the series 50+ times through reactions lol.

"Have you forgotten where we came from? The mines they had us in? Air so thick it clogged your throat, stuck in your eyes. [...] We came from a world where there was never enough to go around, Finn. That is why we fight. Do you remember?" "Can you imagine what it's like? When your blood mixes with the filth and the river toxins eat through your nerves." "For respect! Opportunity! Everything they've denied us." "We shared a vision, Vander. A dream of freedom. Not just for the Lanes, but the whole of the underground, united as one. The nation of Zaun. Do you even remember?" "I hated you, but you kept my respect. Until you made peace with them. Played lapdog after everything we suffered." "You'd die for the cause, but you won't fight for one?" Arcane is fking wild, Riot announced they were making a show at their 10 year anniversary saying it had been in the works for 4 -5 years. Given the track record of video game shows and movies, the fact Riot had never made anything like this, and the scale of the universe (league's universe is huge it would have flopped if they tried to do everything at once) it had every reason to be bad or just "ok". But then 2 years later here we are with arguably one of the best animated shows, frankly ever. So much thought and care went into basically every aspect of it, I mean threads planted in episode ONE get carried all the way till the end for massive pay offs. Theres only a few shows I can think of with characters this dynamic and subtle. And long post time: Silco is probably one of my favorite "villains" of all time. I use the " " because IMO everything he wants to do is honestly a good thing, hes just willing to do terrible things to accomplish them. He wants to liberate his fellow oppressed citizens, hes even open to diplomacy, and does truly does value things like honesty and loyalty. Its hinted at all the way back in the beginning that Vander and Silco were basically brothers in arms until Vander adopted Powder and Vi and settled down and Silco became more radical. Then AAALLLL the way here in episode 9 Silco finds himself literally 1 for 1 in Vanders shoes. He has a daughter that he would throw away his life's dream to protect but does still want to help his people and finds himself at a crossroad he cant sort out, which ultimately leads to his death. This also seaways into his relationship with Jinx. Its a weird definitely not 100% healthy relationship for either of them. But the reason Jinx latches on to Silco throughout the whole show is because hes willing to embrace and accept her for who she is. Not that shes trying to be mean or the bad guy, but Vi has literally been doing the opposite. She wants specifically Powder back, and thinks she can "fix" Jinx. Its this crazy messy (in a good way) plot that I cant even imagine how long this whole damn show took to sort out. And its not even done since we know there's at least a season 2 and Riot will probably branch out into other parts of their Universe. Speaking of which....welcome to the season 2 waiting room lol. And one last thing, since you asked for recommendations I'll toss the same two I said before into the ring. Those being Kipo and the age of wonderbeasts and Dragon prince (in that order personally)

For me this was perfect ending. The main story was about Vi and Powder/Jinx relationship and Powders's change (or choice let's say). The ending with great song (made by Sting) was about Jinxe's decision to be Jinx. Minds and imaginatio behind the show is proving this even more for me (and it's talked about in BTS show). So thx for reactions, let's wait for season 2 ;-) The most powerful lines (so relatable to our real life) for me through the whole season: 1. You'd die for the cause, but you won't fight for one. 2. In the pursuit of great, we failed to do good. 3. Is there anything so undoing as a daughter?
@darksaint0124

It is about both of their changes. A lot of people seem to think that Vi doesn't change at all, but think back to think first 3 episodes. At what point does Vi ever look like a character that will work with an enforcer? Even Ekko has a problem with Vi running around with Caitlyn in the Lanes. Even going back to the prologue, Vi is the only one visibly angry at the enforcers. Powder barely reacts to the death of their parents, she reacts to Vi's distress and attempts to console her. The show is also telling us the Vander/Silco story at the same time, because each sibling mirrors their father figure.

Before shooting the rocket or after the explosion would be worse endings than this. But the most important part here is the resolution of Vi's attempt to get Powder back. She tried and she failed. That story point is finished, and it ended with a bang.

I don't think I would necessarily say I'm crying for Silco when he dies, more for Jinx. At that moment she loses another father figure, and ironically has had a hand in both their deaths in some way.

Thing is, people keep asking "How could they end it like that!" but if you really think about it, and the story they're telling, how could they _NOT_ end it right there? Anywhere else would be an even worse cliffhanger.

Before your start on the behind the scenes stuff, please react to the Enemy music video! It has a tiny mini episode of Arcane in it. You might want to look at Get Jinxed too, although it was more of a proof of concept for the art style of Arcane, it's pretty old. Viktor is totes Best Boy. He needs to be wrapped in a blanket and fed chicken soup. "She made her choice" - no. The decision was made when she was looking into nowhere, after Silco said she was perfect. She didn't choose, she gave up trying to escape it. Choices are empowering, this is resignation. She killed her family for the second time, and she couldn't fight it any more. "It's only a matter of time until you implode, and Silco gets the message that you're about as good for our cause as you were for your family.... 'Jinx'. " A little detail - the orrery with the sparklers in Vi's face when she came to was the Valdiani from the loot in episode 1. Jinx must have found it and fished it out of the river. Every character in Arcane is a masterpiece. Silco was a bad guy, no question. He rose to power on the back of making and distributing harmful drugs, he oversaw the rise of inequality and he tried to mold Jinx into the same damaged person he became. He didn't care about those who fell behind, and he was willing to sacrifice anything for his revolutionary goal. Almost anything. Silco unquestionably adored Jinx, tried to help her learn from his own pain so that she wouldn't have to suffer as he did, he rose the Undercity from it's knees into a position where they so nearly won their independence and he did it without war. Silco is the kind of guy who history would probably smile on, had his peace treaty been successful. "Oh, it all make sense now, brother..." The circle has completed itself. Silco, after holding him in contempt for so long for giving up on the revolution is where Vander was at the start of the first episode, or even at the end of the second episode. He's finally found something he won't give up for his revolution. "That's my girl." "Don't cry. You're perfect."

Voiceplay did an amazing cover of the ENEMY theme song of Arcane. I recommend checking it out ^^ I really love how they visualized the mental voices of Jinx to the audience. Truly masterful - I've rarely seen such good presentation of mental illness. I bet you are now glad that Heimerdinger got demoted from the council in ep6 ^^? Bridging the rift (making of Arcane) is definetly worth checking out- it is 5 parts and every part concentrates on a certain aspect of the show and making process. In general, they crafted this show for 6 years - from the idea to the finish of season 1. The process is amazing and certainly because it is unique adn they had to learn everythign from step 1. Riot did almost everything by themselves. Even the score for the show is done by the sound effects department at Riot. Of course they hired a lot f people and the animation studio is partly owned by Riot now - so in fact, more or less, they have now their exclusive animation studio XD. here is the first part kzitem.info/news/bejne/rrBqk2dunWVedHo As for more Arcane content I recommend: The E-Sports Worlds Show Open 2021 - Arcane themed kzitem.info/news/bejne/koWw1XqnbYNkkpg and the making of Worlds 2021(here you get a good grip of how Riot operates on his projects) kzitem.info/news/bejne/l3uDl5ito4N9ino and I recommend the season 2 announcement teaser trailer: kzitem.info/news/bejne/r6tvroiFgoepf6A So just to know - are you interested in diving into the cinematics of League ? they do a lot of animated music videos ; music in general and of course champion and lore related trailers, teasers and cinematics. Do you mind some minor spoilers ? I need to know in order to not recommend if you wanna avoid.

But we don't, the end comes and we are all going No. Okay so ow a half a year or a year to go before the next season. Oh if you want there is a voice teaser trailer with Vi, Jinx, and Caitlyn talking. So enjoy your reaction and look forward to the next season. So you have a great day and STAY SAFE. 👍

Enjoyed your reaction! But bruh, at 40:49, I think you missed the part when Silco said, "you see, finish it," after Jinx knocked Cupcake out. He wanted Jinx to kill Caitlyn and then, Vi. Both of them dying would solve some of his problems. Anyways, can't wait for S2. Thanks for getting these out so close to one another.

Your thoughts at the end were welcome as always. I have some points for you to mull over: Caitlyn and Vi becoming closer because Caitlyn didn't kill Jinx - Problem: Not killing Jinx has probably led to the death of Caitlyn's mother. Silco - if I heard you right - you don't think he wanted Jinx to kill Caitlyn or Vi. I disagree. Immediately after Jinx knocks Caitlyn down and points the gatling gun at her, he shouts "Finish it!" - clearly urging her to kill Caitlyn. Then, he picks up the pistol and fires it at Vi (you see it smoking as it falls to the ground, and then you see Vi look at the bullet hole in her own chair) - I think it's possible to get confused and think Jinx somehow shot towards Vi and Silco, but she didn't - she only shot at Silco. Jinx - take over and lead Zaun? - I don't think she has the leadership, interpersonal, or organisational skills to do that - I'm also not convinced she has the motivation - Freedom for Zaun was Silco's dream, maybe not hers. Sevika seems more in the frame for continuing the cause - that has been her motivation all season.

Jinx didn't choose any people. He was so overwhelmed that he exploded, and this time he was completely broken when she realized that she had killed the only person who loved her perfectly. Now she understood what she was in this world. She's a jinx. And if she's going to be a jinx, she's going to be the worst bad luck the city has ever experienced. No truce. No negotiations. No peace. Jinx will show them all. Let it all burn, and let chaos reign. War is coming...

During the rocket montage, the last shot of Sevika as she tries to light her cigar deliberately centers around Silco's empty chair in his office. She's definitely taking over.

@@jeffkoenig7402 Yep, Sevika is the logical choice for many reasons. I expect most of Silco's workforce already work for her anyway. And her goals line up with Silco's -- independence. The only other option would be one of the chembarons making a move... but we all saw how well that worked out for them.

Truly such a phenomenal show! In keeping with Arcane, it would be cool to see you react to the video Mako (writer of What Could Have Been - last song in eps 9) in his thoughts and process to writing that iconic song. The first and second time I watched the show when it came out that last song literally sent chills down my spine and made me more emotional than I’ve ever felt from any song or score (so many tears lol). Hearing the process of how the song was made was fascinating and I think you’d enjoy it!

I have a bizarre addiction to watching episode 9 reactions, and I can't help but wonder at how no one _ever_ seems to notice... that bit at the end with the doctor? This video skips the specific moment, it's in the cut right after 23:48. He's got Vander's body in his lab. It's a split-second shot, and our eyes are guided to him in the corner, but _look at what's taking up half the damn screen._ It's a clever trick of cinematography, and for the people who know what the Season 2 teaser hints at, it's not something you can miss again once you've spotted it.

Jinx just killed Caits mom... Seson two will without a doubt be Caint going after Jinx and Vi trying to stand between them. The only question I have is if Mel dies... If she does Mels mother will rain frigin brimstone and sulfer over all of Piltover. It would also piss of Jayce to no end and put him on edge with Vi which would put Cait in the middle. It WOULD be a fantastic opportunity for alot of friction and drama however. Mel feels like a rather important character tho and the whole shiny brace thingy on her back could maybe indicate an in-game item called "Zhonyas Hourglass" which is an item that stopps you, and only you, in time allowing you to completely evade an damage for just an instance. Or its something else, I dunno but it seem to specific to be irrelevant. SO... Id say its 50/50. Im really curious.
