Did you know that Singapore is one of the most expensive places in the world to buy a car? The island country is famous across the globe for its large number of rules and regulations on cars, such as the VQS (Vehicle Quota System). And these car restrictions are historical: it all started 60 years ago! For the first time since we launched UMX, we travelled to Asia to produce a two-episode series delving into Singapore's unique car restrictions and their impact on the city's urban mobility. Featuring the excellent Paul Barter (Urban Transport Researcher and Policy Advisor based in Singapore), the first episode focuses on the history of Singapore's car restrictions, while the second episode will explore on how Singapore is aiming for a car-lite future. 🚗 Stay tuned!
