Years ago, the NCAA invited D 2 champions to compete in the D 1 championship. It ended after Carlton Haselrig from Pitt Johnstown winning both Divisions 1 & 2 titles the same year. He stayed at UPJ because of the coach.

D1 was intense, you won’t find any pushovers in any match. D2 has some great wrestlers same with D3. D1, they put you thru the ringer, and a lot of traveling etc, not much time for anything else during the season.

Division 3 college wrestling is tougher than division 2, but not as tough as division 1 (obviously). Academics come first, family second, wrestling last. Practices, at RIT at least, are no different than d1. Depending on the school you may have to do additional am workouts on top of school and the pm wrestling practice

I wrestled throughout highschool but had my career cut short due to false accusations from an officer that stood up in this crooked justice system. I was hoping to be able to wrestle in college after I showcased my skills at state. I am from Iowa so I have been with the best of the best competition wise. I would love to be able to find another way to wrestle, it still breaks my heart to this day....

Definitely check out a NAIA then D3, if D1 and D2 isn't the best fit for your major and mat prowess. 1.)Think of the choices as D1( almost full ride); D2( partial or $8k); D3( $0); NAIA( $5k athletic money) for financial aid. 2.) Who has my major? #.) Do I start or wait?

Depends. Do you have the financial ability to attend an NAIA school? Are you prepared to go to a place that’s probably in the middle of nowhere, with nothing to do but wrestling? Are you ready for a full time commitment to college wrestling? You ready to have to agree to a different kind of student code of conduct than a public university? I’m not asking these questions to be a smartass, I’m just laying down the truth to you man. If it’s your passion and you’re fully committed to the sacrifices go for it!
