Great video guys. Really interesting statistics. I was one of the increase in Portuguese Coastal numbers in 2023. I’m looking forward to my first time on the Frances, starting in SJPDP in the second half of April 2024. Sorry to miss the retreat. Question is, at what number of pilgrims will each route become too busy? Wishing you both a happy and healthy 2024.

Happy to read that you are finally taking that big step to make your dream come true!! As for the first couple of days: we think it’s paramount to take them, and not to sightsee around, but because you need to really arrive, take in what is you are going to attempt, get rid of the jet lag, breath in a bit of the spirit before setting off, maybe journal a bit. If you start walking straight away sometimes you don’t even realise where you are, still with the mind full of all the things you have left at home! This is why we do the pre-Camino retreats in saint jean pied de port, because for us those few days before are vital to set the tone for the Camino! But this is only our opinion 😋 whatever you choose, we wish you an amazing Camino! And if you have doubts you can always reach us out at hello@caminotellers.com

My first thought would be that The Camino started as a faith based pilgrimage for Catholics and Catholic women tend to practice their faith more than men statistically; next, would be that women are more social creatures on average and this pilgrimage offers this; last, I think women may be more inclined to do it for the health benefits. Are any of these reasons without looking further into them myself? @@caminotellers
