Bimetal temperature gauges are generally produced as a helical tube. The measuring system consists of two strips of metal with different expansion coefficients that are welded or bonded. When the temperature changes, the bimetal strip deforms into a helix or spiral shape to create a rotational movement. Given that one end of the bimetal helix is firmly clamped, the other end will rotate and move the temperature gauge pointer.
Bimetal thermometers are used in many industries, including oil, gas, and petrochemical refining; food and beverage processing; paper and pulp; pharmaceutical; and a host of OEM applications including boilers, compressors, pumps, and brewing equipment. The primary function of a bimetal thermometer is to provide local temperature indication on process surface areas that are easily accessible for temperature readings.
