No, tapping the door is one way of opening it. You can open it from the app, from the screen inside, or tapping the door. The button on the charging handle does not always work. A local Supercharger is next door to a 50KW Non Directional AM station. It is inside a large RF energy field, and the AM swamps the receiver in the car. Some key fobs will not work for other cars for the same reason. So the site owner put a note on the chargers advising that the button on the handle may not work.

I like Teslas too they just need to improve them with the ability to fully charge from absolute 0 to 100 percent in the same amount of time it takes to fully fuel a regular car, 3 to 5 minutes, offering a range of atleast 500 miles. How about a large full size luxury automobile for guys like me? Improve them so they will operate fully even in the most brutal cold temperatures. Would you buy this Tesla? Well ofcourse you would!!! Infact i would beat you to the gates to be the first to buy one. Even the good people at Tesla in Philadelphia Pennsylvania told me quote: "Have patience because that day is coming." So I'll have patience and waite for the next generation EV with the hopes that these fine qualities and improvements have been made. Till then I'll take gas all day for the fine features not available in any EV...
@sadasdsadsadasdasd914
5 ай бұрын
I don't think an ev will ever be able to charge as fast as a gas car, wires can only flow so much electricity in a given amount of time. Kind of like pipes with liquid. Think of it this way: for a gas car to fill up in the same amount of time as a tesla does, the pump would barely be dripping gas. If you want gasoline speed from an electric charger, they would need insanely thick cables to supply all the energy and it would be very hard for the car to control the charging@@carlsmith5545
@davidmenasco5743
4 ай бұрын
@@carlsmith5545Actually, EVs are quite a bit more reliable than gas cars in extreme cold weather. In extreme cold, a gas car requires a block heater plugged into an outlet overnight in order to start in the morning. In the same temperature after sitting overnight unplugged, an EV will start and drive immediately. Just press on the accelerator and it goes. If you need to charge the car, that's when it needs to be warmed up, and it can do that on the way to the charger. It's a good idea to keep it plugged in overnight, because if you do, it will have more range because it's not heating up as much. But unlike a gas car, this is optional and not required to drive the car. The problems in Chicago were caused mainly by two things: Blackouts took down three data centers that the chargers use to communicate (also knocking several gas stations offline). And a bunch of brand new drivers who didn't know how to use their cars all mobbed the same two Supercharger sites. Note: EVs are very popular in many places that are just as cold as Chicago or colder. Also, experienced Tesla owners don't lose any time to charging. They charge at home while they sleep, or at the grocery store while they shop, or on trips during a meal break. On balance, they save a lot of time not stopping at gas stations.
