As someone who's tried pen names multiple times since I've been publishing, I definitely agree with Abbie. I couldn't maintain them all. Now my books are under one name. There's so much less stress, and books that weren't selling well move more copies than they did before because my readers realize I wrote them. It was the right choice for me.

What really helps me from trying to write perfectly is writing things down on paper. I just jot everything down and try not to look back. Using documents online usually has an installed 'Grammarly' type thing that will point out your mistakes and you will feel like you need to go back and fix them. Writing everything on paper will be a lot less distracting. I've written three chapters in two days so far. Even if it's a super rough draft, at least I'm getting through it and soon I will be on the second draft!

Brandon Sanderson is famous for writing both Fantasy, and Sci-Fi. If he wanted to write a thriller too, I'm sure he'd do amazing at it. For the perfectionism I recommend thinking about what you could do if you just wrote what you was feeling in the moment? What could you do if you just new it didn't need to be perfect, i just needed to be? What can you do when you are deeply, madly, truly, in the moment? What could you do if you knew who you wanna be isn't perfect, but you'll still be okay?

As an avid reader, I completely agree with not having two pen names. I read everything by Carolyn Crane and loved loved loved her, and it was just by chance that I found out that that was her pen name and that she had other books under her name Annika Martin. Which were also fantastic. I'm still a little dirty at her because I could have missed them completely and missed out on them. Lol. She's linked her two names now, but I, like so many others just want to read everything from an author if I like their writing style, not just a genre.

my book is for the ones who enjoy fantasy and escape in it, for those how find themselves in the most unrealistic things, and those who believe in a bigger thing out there, a bigger meaning for who they are. it’s for the people who still haven’t figured out exactly WHO they are yet. those who keep trying, and maybe making decisions that aren’t the best, but they’re good at heart in the end. those who struggle making connections because of that conflict, because they want to present themselves in the best way possible in the end. my main goal while writing, even if it’s a crazy world with magic, royalty, weird politics and unusually large bushes, is for all of it to be human in the end. so that every person reading will find some form of themselves in, and they hold the book as a source of comfort for that. i hope my book will make it someday, and i hope while writing this comment i am doing something. i wish everyone who reads this lots of success with their journey too, and i’m proud them for starting it

What i mean by this is; it's sort of like a template for a story that ends up being the foundation of your book Shotaro Ishinomori uses the idea of cyborgs in many of his works like Cyborg 009, Kamen Rider, Kikaider and Super Sentai Hiro Mashima uses friendship as his main theme of his mangas Liam Vickers uses a person who has the ability to kill people in the most brutal way possible You get what I'm saying?

I've been working on the outline for my first fantasy novel (first ever novel in general), done some research on a few things, managed to nail down the theme and started working on my first draft. Only have 2 shaky paragraphs and I started in 3rd person, but I'm not sure if that's the road I should take or if I'd better write in 1st person. A part of me is afraid I'd get too personally attached to the project if I write in 3rd person, on the other hand that would probably create a connection between the main character and my readers.

Hey Abbie, I have a question. I’m currently writing a novel and I’m trying my best to follow your story structure. However, in between of each section of the story plot, there’s typically just random, normal stuff that happens to the characters, before something like an inciting incident or buildup occurs. I've had a FB page, a Blog, and a site for seven years and zero people to 'have a conversation'... I'm beginning to think intellectual curiosity is dead. I didn't want to write a book, I found something important doing research and most people into the 'genre' are incredulous and don't want a free copy. I think it strange that some people want to write a book and have no idea what about and search for the most popular subject then just make it up.

Right now I'm focusing on a man (let's call him A) who will soon be drafted and will return a scarred man who will ultimately commit suicide. The focus will then shift on his son (let's call him B) who will become a super successful figure. I have already started to introduce B in the first chapter of the novel as a young kid. I'll slowly start to shift focus on him. I'd just like some opinions as to what you all think about that. I'll be grateful for any input.

Like you want to keep the story going but you don’t know how to implement it into a scene, or how the problem you created is going to resolve. I know some people are like “If you get stuck just move onto a different scene!” but like, even if I move onto a different scene I still have to go back and write the scene I didn’t do and what if by the time I know what to do, the rest of my story isn’t gonna work? Or if I still don’t know what to do with it? Or if I don’t know what other “different scenes” to write? I’m scared of that. Do you know what you do when you get stuck on what to write next in your story?

Perfectionism comes from armchair quarterbacks and jealous humans who have to point out others imperfections to hide their insecurities. I have found this in art, writing, sewing, sports etc. I think this handicaps others from trying new things. Whatever you create or try in life enhances your journey in life.
