You mean to say this truck is nothing like replacing injectors on diesel Ford Superduty. What kind of mechanic is that. Hey Bro, beautiful truck! I love the set up, the stance, and the way it looks! but, if you have a Title That says it's a 2022 and is registered as such, then no one can really argue that point, but the the truck was assembled in 2015 (I have one by the way, 2015 Glider) and it had an actual VIN# for that year, so when you go to Peterbilt and they ask you for the VIN#, you're going to have to explain, the whole process because that VIN# number will not be in their system or database. The truck was re-assembled in 2022 and I don't know how that happen but, it is what it is! Still Nice!
@TheRoadhammer379
Жыл бұрын
Ughhhh, these are conversions not gliders like your truck. I have a 2018, new VIN, titled as a 2023, I use PACCAR VIN for parts and repairs only. VIN on title is strictly for FMCSA. You are talking about a glider which this truck IS NOT, it's a legal conversion that started as a factory built, emissions equipped truck and now all those parts are removed and entirely replaced. Your glider started as a chassis with a body, no motor, no transmission, it was assembled by an aftermarket company as peterbilt DID NOT assemble gliders, they sold the kits to companies like Fitzgerald. Apples and oranges, I've been buying gliders for 26 yrs, a true glider VIN on the title is directly linked to the freightliner or paccar system. This guy's truck VIN as per his title, is not, but again you simply give the dealer your trucks original paccar vin and it's no issues. I have more issues with my factory built freightliner glider and the dealers than I have had with Peterbilt dealers and our converted truck.

I've been in trucking for over 25 years. It took me a while to get everything you were saying. Its started making sense when you said the truck is 2015 retitled rebuilt 2020. Iam going to ignore say the three letter agency. Why is that. Because truck dealers are by law required to report this and install all original components. Meaning you have like 15k fine. You cannot move the truck or tow it out of the dealership. Money has to be put into a escrow in this case like maybe like over 50k because you have to get a whole new engine, transmission gauge clusters, etc. So the new vin is maybe what gets around this certainly probably not in some states I wont mention. Some one may think Iam a rat for pointing out these things. If your in this industry without any knowledge of the dilemma's you possibly are setting up yourself for some major hurting that may not need be necessary. The log book get around - loop hole that goes out the window when you haul heavy loads. The components bogging the engine down on new trucks have to be dealt with one way or the other. Meaning your spending about as much money to keep those components on the truck that can be a breakdown at any moment at the cost of a new engine but only to service maintain those parts. Unreliability is a huge reason for a glider like this. If this "Glider" truck breaks down any shop could repair it that same day and you would be on your way in a week if its engine overhaul or half a day for injector, turbo other accessories etc. Long haul produce, fish. shell fish you cant afford break downs at the cost of 200k or 500k of perishable commodities in your trailer. Dilemma's!! Very small ones like the freight rates not even paying enough to cover the fuel. To do these mods is insane amount of money. The risk and fine is insane amount of money. If I was to do a glider. I would start with old truck and old vin the rest can come from a new or from the future if its of good quality. Taking the cab off for some shops could take 2 -3 days if not in a half day. Engine trans pulled 2 - 3 day a weak max. Most shops you do have to understand bill for 40hrs to rebuild a engine. Swinging a engine out and another one in is about 40hrs. So if your going to do these things on new truck. Might as well do it on a old one without risk to three letter agency ever is not a bad option.

I’d like to find a W900L with the 86” studio. I love kitty cats but I’d like an N14 Celect Plus. I ran three different trucks with them years ago and loved that motor. An 18 speed with 3.42 meritor rears.
