Dr Ranj explains;
It's easy to say, "Don't scratch," but getting your children to follow that advice can be tricky.
You may have to get a little bit creative.
Firstly, it's important to use a moisturising emollient, such as Cetraben, throughout the day. That keeps the skin nice and moisturised and helps prevent flare-ups.
Try to get fingernails nice and short to minimize any damage from scratching. Cotton mittens can be really useful for small children or those who scratch at night. For skin that's problematic around bedtime, some people may find that wet wraps really help soothe the skin, also some medications reduce itch as well as aid sleep.
