That is why you use non public bridges and never do it from home. Also, if you are super paranoid, change the MAC Address first (I know I will get a lot of criticism on this one, but people that know "networking forensics" know what I am talking about). Never forget to change it back to the original once you are finished. Few people do this. You can also configure a VPN before starting Tor on your native OS, but is a bit tricky. If (and only if) you do it right, your ISP will (probably) not know.

One thing about the "Information can be edited, manipulated and misconstrued": Sometimes, however, it might be a good idea to put information out into the public (i.e. the internet), so you have a public record of what you said. This makes it pretty hard for Big Brother to edit anything you said and turn it against you. Also, at most forums, you have a timestamped record of when you said it and from where (IP records), giving you an alibi against any attemps to falsly put you at a crime scene or something.
@ForrestBarth

Yes, but you have the ability to choose to put that information out. The problem with mass surveillance is that it removes your ability to control what information you want to have public.

The fourth amendment to the U.S. constitution says: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." The issue with tails is that along with the other inconveniences of using Linux in a windows dominated world, its not good for much else other than using the browser. It wipes itself totally clean so its like a totally fresh install every time you boot it up. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm guilty of becoming used to the conveniences of modern windows. Not sure I could do without them.

INSIDE HARDWARE nishen there's no silver bullet here. You need to analyze your threat model and decide which will work best for your needs. Whonix: Respectable project with amazing documentation, sometimes applicable even if you're not using it as your OS. Tails: Probably the easiest way to get started on anonymous computing. Liberté: Dead project, don't use. Qubes: Utilizes Whonix for their anonymous VMs. Black Arch: Meant primarily for penetration testing, not anonymous computing. Wouldn't recommend unless you really, really know what you're doing (and even then, probably not).

I eventually picked up my Security+ and CISSP, then took a run at the OSCP (self-study and on-the-job). Depends on your threat model. If you are worried about your system getting compromised, use nonwriteable medium like a DVD or drive with a write blocker. Since there is no persistence if your machine gets compromised a reboot would be sufficient to go back to a "clean slate". the video would have been 15 mins shorter has you not dropped so many ums and uhs.My question but when I download and verify tails 2.10 the file doesn't turn into a disc it's just just a large file not an iso image. Do I just toss this onto a dvd r 4gb disc and from my boot menu go into legacy boot like I did for the previous version? ??

Hi Jason! Sorry for the delayed reply. I just downloaded the .torrent and it has the .iso file with the extension, as well as the .sig file for GPG signature verification. I'm not sure what method you are using to download it, but you should be able to download the .iso directly from their website if needed.

Anonymous computing is not only a matter of software. Its also a procedure of get hardware that cant be traced back to you. Stupids lammers install all sort of software to not being traced and buy a laptop with their own credit car in front of a CCTV camera. Not to mention that they use their home Internet connection and keep the same chipset, ICCID, Imei or Mac Adress on their stuff. There is no better resources for a complete anonymation of all our communications?

zak00101 Again, this comes down to threat modeling. If you are anticipating an adversary capable of compromising your system, extracting the hardware information and linking that back to you individually, you need to be looking for more advanced anonymization means. Tails randomizes MAC addresses at every boot, so unless your box gets compromised the original address would not be exposed. As for ICCID and IMEI information, I wouldn't recommend using a cellular connection. If you must, use a burner phone that you obtain with cash or some other means. That isn't an area that I have investigated too deeply, so you may want to do additional research to better protect yourself.

Forrest Barth Forrest thanks for the reply. Burners phones arent secure because they can be easily tracked by phone companies. In fact in many countries there is a procedure called nominalization to activate your prepaid phone/sim only after you input all your data and answer a question related with the info you input. By the way I was searching for a book or resource that fully explain how to anonymize all your digital life. Im not a criminal but it will be an Interesting book to understand what are the real chances to stay under the radar of electronic surveillance society for a person nowadays. That will be a fantastic investigation. I assume do you need to know a lot of electronics, computers, telecommunications. The question is: who is that guy? How Anonymous, Wikileaks or Snowden cover their traces? Im sure they dont use Thor, Tails... in fact I think Thor is a very well planned honeypot. CIA, NSA and FBI knows how to track you.

Your not. Persistence is the key. One step at a time you can walk the whole path. Learning to talk is one of the hardest things to learn. If u can do that a 1 yr old with no teacher u can learn almost ANYTHING.

does not change the fact that it is almost impossible to watch the editor could have fixed that if they're really trying to educate people making things easier for them to understand is the best way to do that this may work for people really interested in this information but not the average user and understanding why privacy is important

Thank you for the transcript and the tutorial. You start with uhms and ahms and continue using this...more than you use ordinary words. Go and count them in the first few minutes. It helps to take a breath before you speak; it gives you time to think, and so do uhms and ahms, though the latter irritate the crap out of your listener. Your speech completely lacks elocution; voice and mind control. You can do better than that if you put your mind to it. You render a good service otherwise.

@Forrest - The biggest problem is your over use of the phrase "Aahh", "Aahh". You need more practice in public speaking and time to listen to your entire presentation!
