Ben Askren trained wrestlers are tough as they come and then some.

Like him or hate him, Ben had a very fascinating style, which seemed to lend him some advantages at finding ways to win the battles for position. He was an outstanding scrambler. However, his style was more suited for folkstyle and freestyle. He did not transition to the international style fast enough, which is why the same success at the highest level could not be found. As for MMA, I wish he would have had a chance in the UFC about 5-7 yrs earlier. I'm not a Ben fanboy, but I do believe if that insane flying knee by Street Jesus didnt land it would have been a long night for Jorge. Granted, it would have been a long, drawn out, boring fight of watch, but he probably would have humped Jorge to a victory. Then he was getting Marty right after and I truly believe that the momentum and confidence he would have had going into that fight may have been enough to beat Usman. Look, I'm not saying those scenarios were likely to play out and take the belt, but he was on the fast track to become a UFC champ. He should have shut his mouth to Dana and it may have went differently for him. Conversely, he very well may have been out of his league. Again though, in his MMA prime, he would have been tough to deal with. He did beat a few highly successful fighters. It played out the way it did though.

the only way you beat him is to win riding time, then tell him how much you dread OT
