After spending our working years raising 5 children and seeing all 5 through college, retiring to travel in our 24 ft trailer is a picnic. Breakdowns and flat tires are low stress items compared to daughters dating fellows that I would like to run off with a shotgun. I am so happy to have my wife to myself. We never get in the truck and leave the other person behind. It is all relative to what you have been through together and each person's personality.

We are in our 46th year of marriage now, just got our 25 Classic last year. Somehow we are much closer when camping. It’s amazing what relaxation and nature can do to calm the spirit and make you aware of creation. And as we work on the RV, prepare meals, or just have quiet time together, it all works together to make our relationship better. It can be stressful when things go wrong...we had three flats last year for instance, and the same wheel well damage you had...plus a dented tank shroud where the tire service guy tried to jack us up under the black tank...what a mess. It all got fixed and all is well again. You just have to work past the stress and know something is coming, sooner or later...without barking at each other. :-))

My wife and I are going on our 23 wedding anniversary in May . I can sum up the key to a happy marriage in 2 words . Yes Dear . :) Seiously though , it's been a great 23 years . I love my wife more today than the day we met . She's my best friend and I love spending tme with her . Never cheated on her , and have never swore at her in anger . ( I respect her and I'd never want to hurt her ) . We have disagreements , and sometimes they get heated . It's those times when I just shut up and walk away and cool off before saying anything hurtful or regretful , then we resume the conversation afterwards . Learning to say two very important words is a must in a good relationship , " I'm Sorry" .

My wife and I retired May, 2017. We left in our 5th wheel in July. We learned VERY quickly that, while we enjoy being together, we need our away time also. Away time is often more important because it enhances our together time. We love to walk but we walk separately every day. Often, we shop separately. After all, if you both experience the same things at the same time, what do you have to talk about? Make alone time just as important as together time. Another important point to make is that virtually EVERY RV kitchen is a '1 butt kitchen'. If 1 person is cooking the other can't 'help'. It only causes friction and resentment. You want to help? Do the dishes afterward.

We're very similar, Kelly likes a little hustle and bustle and I, like you Sean, am a bit of an introvert. OK - hermit in training. One thing we've found helps is a getaway day. Kelly goes to the shops or an art gallery, something she feels like at the time, and I'll take the dog and go for a walk, or just hang out at the trailer. As long as you have a tow vehicle or a toad, you don't have to be attached at the hip, and that can be a very good thing.

This video came out when we were on our trip... I grabbed my hubby and said you gotta watch this with me!! We really chuckled over this as the first month we were on the road heading to FL was not a good start, tanks freezing, temps at night in the 20's on the way down..(We left 2 days after Christmas) We argued like crazy until we finally figured what we were doing, After that, the rest of the trip was amazing and I hated to come home. We will never be full timers as I like my home too much to ever give it up, but we are definitely going to be snow birds and stay away as long as we can.. :) Thanks for all your videos. We have really enjoyed them and have learned lots from you and Kristy. I said a lot of prayers for you as I had a health problem the same time you did.. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. Right now I am 4 months cancer free, and I pray your treatments are working.. Some day we hope to meet you on the road and we'd love to buy you all a beer, or several ... :) Take care... Linda....

30 years as truckers together we've learned very well how to live happily in a small space. Wasn't always easy. Learning to fight was important. Mean name calling isn't an option. Sometimes it's just easier to agree to disagree. Respect and love is possible even when you disagree. It takes practice but it's well worth it! We very rarely fight anymore. Disagree maybe but not fight. Love your comments about each needing space! Very important!

Really enjoyed this video. Julie and I spent our honeymoon in a tent at Holland State Park enjoying dinner with the sunset over Lake Michigan. Our 45 years of camping then RVing included many discussions about full timing. But we never did it. However, we did get a taste of full-timing on a six week trip from Ohio to Alaska and back. I am too am the introvert and thrive in the thinly populated wilds of America. Julie, the extrovert, also loves the outdoors, but also needs to wander into a city to get her fill of urban life. That insight, and your discussion of living in your own space in the trailer were great advice. We will use your advice and insights traveling this summer around the Northeast celebrating 45 years of marriage which began in a tent on Lake Michigan and kept getting better since them.

Great topic, we’ve been RVing for the past 25 years. In fact, when I was handling planning our honeymoon with all the money we’d saved up, I found an ad for a little 17’ used camper that we could just buy outright. I told my wife that if we spent the money on a cruise in the Caribbean, we’d have a glorious time for a week. If we bought the camper, every time we used it, we would be on our honeymoon. As for a great place to hit up, Mt Desert Island, Maine. Also known as Acadia National Park. There is so much to do and it has Bar Harbor for those times that you want to be around people.
