You probably won’t see this but here goes anyway. If you hade the Arctic blast like everyone else did many plants, trees and shrubs didn’t have enough time to prepare for that amount of cold so soon, usually there is a gradual cool down but we went from unusually warm weather to Arctic blast overnight. 🌷💚🙃

We had that in AL, had an unusually cold blast in early Fall, then a warm up in Feb, followed by a week of freezing temps. That really did a number on my crape myrtles. They're coming back, but lost a lot of growth from the previous year. Had to cut out a lot of dead.

I shared itch relief products from my second order with a good friend who suffers from a chronic rash on her arms and legs and she loved it. I reached out to the company and they responded within minutes about selling retail. We ordered on a Friday and had the products in by Tuesday to sell in time for Mothers Day. My only complaint is that there is no place in France near us where I can go or order Proven Winners. I have a little more than a half acre to cover, so I am buying is a large grouping of plants. Last year I ordered 12 Annapurna Rose, 5 Iceberg Roses, 6 Deutzia Gracilis 'Nikko', 24 Festuca glauca 'Intense Blue, 4 various flowering trees, 5 'Pink Chiffon' Hibiscus Syriacus. Only had one order from a vendor I'd never used before, and they advertised the potted plant as Abelia 'Pinky Bells' Proven Winners, so I took the chance and ordered 26. Only 4 were Proven Winners, while the rest had nothing more than a grower' tag on them. We planted them all, though, because they had been a week in the transporter warehouse. The drought came, and even though we were watering the through the auto drip system, we lost all 22 of Abelias not having the Proven Winners Brand. In truth, the Proven Winner Abelias looked a bit bedraggled, but they lived. They are now thriving, and it is barely discernible that they had suffered. So, yeah. I will purchase Proven Winner plants when I can find them, but I won't buy any from England. You see, since England left the EU, stuff ordered from there is usually sitting in some warehouse for anywhere from 2 weeks to over a month, and that is not a good life plan for any plant. But there IS no Proven Winner here in France other than the occasional one or two found here or there. I would rather spend more money on a plant that has a better chance of performing than a plant that was grown by someone who can't find the courage to put their name on it.

Our area (coastal Massachusetts 6B) had horrific plant loss this year. February was too warm. Things began to bud and sprout too early, and then we had a severe arctic plunge mid-March which just decimated our cherry tree, Azalea, and forsythia blooms, killed countless rose bushes, including my 16 year old knockouts, butterfly bushes, Camelias. Half of my perrenials are no shows...certain coreopsis, certain phlox, some ferns, some astilbe, all of my Echinacea, sea thrift, dead nettle, gaillardia, and dianthus...... gone. 😢

Hi .. as far as I was ttold by my local small garden center... they were not selling very many Proven Winner's as before because not only do they have the tags with the proven winner nane and plant name and discrimination. ..they were having to pay for the white pots. They are just so much more expensive than years before and can't really afford to not sell them all so they backed off on the amount they purchase. And they also had to raise the price fir us the consumer. I'm thinking as long,as the have the Proven Winner's tag logo with info about the pkant why would they have to buy pot's too. ? I've also backed off haw many P.W. plants I buy they are about 2.oo per plant higher.

My Lilac and Crape Myrtle pruning experiences: I have an old White Double Lilac that was here when we built our House in 1995. I'm sure it's pushing 70 years old, according to neighbors. I cut 1/3 of the limbs (some 1-2" Dia) about 3,4,5 feet from the ground and they sprout new growth and flower the next or 1 season after. Same with another 15 year old Lilac and with my Crape Myrtle that's about 15. A slower rejuvenation than cutting all, but it works for me. I'm in Zone 6, Paris suburbs. 😊
