I would say deadlift is his best lift since it’s the most weight

Larry is one of the first ppl Ive seen in my 30 yrs who warms up using single reps. Since then Ive seen others doingnit and I understand the argument that its to activate the nervous system but honeatly I still feel.lile you should do higher reps at the beginning and work down to the single.

I think long term you are correct it's better. Too much warmups will definitely take lbs off the bar, but most of us aren't competing so longevity is more important.

Imagine doing chest day with a guy that can bench 2x your deadlift max as his warm up for chest. Why even try anymore ?

1 rep max warm up.. how do i? Well i would start with what i could rep 3x max for 1rep, then l would move up and max out loading up/adding more and more weight doing 1rep lifts til i reach my max lift. Starting lighter also works too and working up.. it just depends on your seasoning and type of lifter you are.. like do the lighter loading method if your unseasoned as a heavy lifter, and do the heavier if your seasoned as a heavier lifter.. And also if you feel sore or like you need to start lighter. .. but usually i go heavy when im seasoned.. you can lift max lifts til they become lighter and you can rep your used to be max 3x then add weight and start at 1rep again and bring your max up.. when plateauing sometimes you need to temporarily drop the weight to a heavy rep out range which will be light to you, and rep out back to your heavy max range, where youll now have increased and became stronger and can now grow into new ranges of higher strength. .. also dont be afraid of the numbers.. their just markers of progression.. try to go past what your trying to achieve.. like aim for 825 instead of 800 and youll get 800 👈😎 Oh and heres something else.. your only as strong as your weakest link... raise your bottom lift strength levels and your top levels will increase💪 Like if 500 is the lightest heavy feeling lift and you can rep it many times.. raise it to 550 or 600 to where it becomes as light and easy as the 500 once was, then your heavy max will grow also and become much more too .. 👍😎 thats how i do it.. Plus i do superheavy lockouts which are over my max to increase bone density and muscle and tendon and ligament and joint strength and cardio strength. Bodybuilding is about muscle building.. and powerlifting is more about bone density/strength.. and mental/spirit strength. .. good luck !

Warm-ups have very little to do with preventing injury, it's more about getting the movement pattern/skill locked in.
