To be honest i took my spark arrestor screen out. It basically just lets exhaust escape easier and increases torque and sound too. My old 12 year old Homelite trim n edge sounds like a killer 2 stroke. Never had any fire issues when i take the screen out. :)

I’m glad this video covered how the spark timing happens. Very helpful. I honestly thought the ignition coil was like program to spark at specific times 😭

I put my finger on the spark plug hole and i sense compresion when i pull the trimmer cord. I didn't clean the carburator yet and all the test i have done is without the tube (pipe) bar of the trimmer attached.

Hi Repairclinic. I was working at about 30 celsius outside for about a hour, than for 10 minutes i put the machine at a shade spot for rest, than i begun again. My spark plug was moist when i saw that my grass trimer (Alpin 520) was not working anymore, the next day when i tried to work. I changed the spark plug with a new one and the machine doesen't work still, but at least the spark plug is not moist.

The bulb on a 2 cycle is not a primer bulb but it is a purge bulb. No matter how many times you push the bulb, it does NOT inject fuel into the cylinder. It pulls fuel through the carburetor and fills up the metering side of the carburetor. Excess fuel is pulled back into the tank. The only way to flood a 2 cycle is to keep the choke closed and keep pulling after it fires.

thanks for video. trying to start my tb465ss. it seems that I can't turn over the engine. i pull idle lever and when I pull on string, the string snaps back. it seems to me that problem could be: a) engine seized b) clutch cable broken or disconnected c) i'm just too old and weak to pull the string hard enough. any suggestions on how to test a and b? c is obvious. thank you.
@repairclinic
9 жыл бұрын
Dan Schag The starter rope could be tangled in the pulley too. Unless you ran the engine with no oil in the fuel it is unlikely seized. The clutch cable can be inspected, but a broken one would not affect pulling the starter.

Hey great video. I just bought a string trimmer today. It seems to labour when under full load. Is that normal for the break in?
@repairclinic

Yes the RPM will slow down a little under a heavy load, that is normal. Enjoy your new trimmer.

Great video, I just bought a craftsman weed wacker, it ran good for an hour when I tried to restart it, it will run in idle but when I try to pull the throttle it stalls out, i`m thinking its the wrong type of two cycle oil or too much ethanol in my gas, plan to pour out all the gas and replace it with craftsman 40:1 mix to see if that will help! This was the first time using the weed wacker. Any suggestions?
@repairclinic
9 жыл бұрын
Carlos Johnson That sure could be a bad gas issue. We recommend buying the premixed 2 cycle fuel that contains no ethanol.

Hi, when replacing old gear or bearing grease from a petrol string trimmer gear case/gearbox, how much (ml) of grease would you recon to pump in the gear case?
@repairclinic
10 жыл бұрын
You will need to fill it up until it reaches the top edge of the case before the cover goes on.

Please help, please help I have a brush cutter, the speed increases very high (this is the speed I want) when the fuel is about of empty (5mins before the fuel gets empty). So I'm wondering what makes the motor run at high speed when the fuel is about to empty. The choke is down (fully open when operation)
@repairclinic
9 жыл бұрын
+Amrithraj Gopalan The Carburetor is likely defective if it does not run at top speed when you throttle up the engine.

hi i have weed eater straight shaft that runs and revs up and down just that the trimmer head doesn't move, I remember when I used it last I heard and felt like a snap what could it be I want to fix just want to know is it the cable or something different
@repairclinic

Choco Drizz The drive shaft could have snapped or the clutch at the very top of the shaft is broke. Get you model number to find the right parts for your string trimmer. www.repairclinic.com/?TLSID=1773.
