Fun fact: The old manuals were more complete because back in the day we had the right to repair our purchased products. When something stopped working, we pulled out the manual and fixed it ourselves.

@@TechProGabe my question is why do they have the monitors leaning forward like that? It makes it really difficult for me to play especially due to my bad vision problems

Is there a way to take out the coin mechanism to make it free to play?
@jeroenritmeester73

Just rewire the manual operation button between the coin slots to an external button so you can hit it as many times as you like.

It was in a church and some kids got a hold of the keys and wrecked it. The glass was broken and so much more i cant even remember! I think i dumped about 200 bucks into it to get it like it is, and a lot more can be done.

I came here for: is there a video showing how did they make (programmed) an arcade game of the mid eighties?
@smooooth_
9 жыл бұрын
Different parts of the program were burned onto a bunch of chips with uv light (I think don't quote me on that), and they are put on a boarrd and the board outputs everything to the monitor

oh yes, the pcb! thanks! no, I was talking about a developer explaining about the binary codes, how they had to draw it on paper, if they used a scanner (90s pixel art) stuff like that :) - not the actual hardware part but the software part! (yes the hardware is also beautiful)

@@smooooth_ Thanks Smooooth! I have searched around and so far no one seems to specifically talk about arcade game programming in a video. We see several ones for consoles, but not for a video arcade machine... But I suspect it was similar to how they programmed NES games with that name table and attribute table + tile based 2D approach... This video is probably something in the likes: kzitem.info/news/bejne/lm2fyJx6jmSEdH4

Is it possible to take the arcade board(s) and install them in a more compact space like a PC case, and then mod them so it's able to display on a modern monitor, modern speakers, and maybe a USB controller?
@tterragrellim5753
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you just need an EGA to VGA converter board, and then a VGA to HDMI converter cable. Otherwise the sound wouldn't come through modern speakers. For the USB controller there is a converter for that too, but I can't remember what it's called off the top of my head

Thanks for this. I have built a few desktop PCs and want to learn how to repair arcade machines. Do think someone who would do this as a job needs to learn more how to fix the mechanical stuff or the electrical stuff (soldering, etc). Thanks in advance

Whats up!?! If youre still wondering the answer is yes! Learn the full round with electrical and mechanical as well. I just started a new job repairing machines with on the job training and all this is involved. We do soldering, replacing mechanical parts, reworking electrical wires if theyre burnt out and more! Sounds like a hard job but its fun and usually pays quite well
